"So, I brought you something while I was out" he said, handing me a cup of coffee and a muffin. "I figured you and Jr Ace could use a pick me up, and I was hoping all of us could go out to breakfast this morning - so long as the hungover are brought back to the living world by then" he said with an eye-crinkling, cheerful smile.
"Logan...? Where did you GO for so long? Mom said you were gone for HOURS before I woke up" I said.
"Oh, nowhere fun, believe me. I had to go run to get some work done. I had a phone call this morning that I didn't expect, and I didn't want to wake you, so I took it outside. Turns out I had gotten some time sensitive information that I needed to jump on right away, went downstairs to the suite I was in with Odette, grabbed my laptop bag along with the rest of my stuff, and ran down to the business lounge to do what I had to do as quickly as I could possibly do it" he said, gesturing with his hand towards the suitcase and black leather laptop bag.
I nodded understandingly, but then I was confused again. "But why didn't you leave me a note or something? I would have had a much more productive morning had you just remembered to leave me a note..." I pointed out.
He walked over to the desk with a smile, picked up the pad of paper, and handed it over to me. His eyes prompting me to read it.
"My Ace, waking up with you this morning felt as if I was still dreaming, and I never want to wake up. But, I unfortunately have to leave the warm embrace of your arms for a cold and unwelcoming reality of sitting inside the hotel's business lounge. I've got to get some work done, but I promise I'll be back soon. I love you, my beautiful girl. See you soon, Logan"
I was speechless. I felt so awful. "I didn't see that" I whispered.
He smiled. "And I'm guessing you didn't see my text telling you relatively the same thing?" he asked lovingly.
I looked at my phone, and there it was, plain as day. "Now I just feel stupid" I admitted.
He laughed again and kissed my forehead with his eyes closed. "I will NEVER, EVER leave you, Ace. You're all mine, and I'm not going to be stupid enough to mess that up - no matter WHAT happens" he promised in a whisper.
I smiled and wrapped my arms around him, standing on my tippy toes to reach his mouth with mine.
We pulled away after what seemed like a piece of forever, where time seemed to stand still, and he held my hands in his. "So, how about that breakfast? Are you and Jr Ace hungry?" he asked.
"You're cute when you ask stupid questions" I teased. He laughed and pulled me into him on his right side, wrapping his entire arm around me, and he led me out into the common room of the suite.
Everyone was gathered into the room, anxiously waiting to hear details of what had happened - by now the news of how my morning started off had already spread like wild fire to everyone in front of us.
I couldn't help but smile to myself when I noticed that Paris and Robert were each sitting on opposite ends of the room. I wanted to ask how their night went so badly, but I knew that that was a story for another time.
"I'm so sorry, Kid. The way he was sneaking around this morning, I had NO idea he was planning to come back" my mom whispered as she hugged me.
"It's okay" I promised her with laugh. "Jess is actually the one who had me calmed down. He said I was jumping to conclusions and overreacting, and made me realize how right he was and how emotional I'd let myself get over nothing" I said.
"Damn these pregnancy hormones!" Lorelai said with tears in her eyes.
"I know, they're the worst. I don't think I've ever cried so much in my entire life!" I admitted.
"W-wait" Paris said, standing up, zeroing in on my mom. My mom's eyes grew wide, hoping no one would've noticed her slip. "You haven't drank the entire time we've been here - I haven't even seen you drink coffee, come to think of it... you slept on the plane, you slept in the limo, you napped when Rory napped last night, and you stayed in whenever Rory came back out... how did I not notice this before!? You're pregnant, too!" Paris exclaimed.
"What!?" We all exclaimed.
"Mom, are you really?" I exclaimed.
She nodded and her face just beamed, and I grabbed her in a great big hug.
"I wasn't going to say anything because I haven't even told Luke, yet. I wanted to wait until after we get back from Vegas, because, well, you know Luke" she said with a smile.
"Oh my gosh, Lorelai! I can't believe it!! I'm so happy for you!" Lane exclaimed, hugging her when I was done.
"Well, I mean, I'm a little peeved you didn't use one of my amazing surrogates that I cherry picked for you two, but I'm still very happy for you" Paris said.
"Wait, wait, wait! Just a damn bloody moment here!" Finn announced loudly.
Everyone turned and looked at him in shock.
"This is all well and good and all mates, I'm very happy for the mum to be, but Paris said 'too'! Who else has a little ankle biter up her duff?" he asked, looking at each of us girls in the room.
Logan cleared his throat. "Finn" he said.
"Ha ha, very funny. We all know it's not you, Logan. Unless you inherited some lady parts along the way, but I wouldn't think our lovely Ms. Gilmore would be into that sort of thing" Finn said, winking at me.
I giggled at his oblivion. "Oh Finn" I said with the shake of my head.
"So who, then?" Colin asked.
Logan hugged me from behind. "Should we tell them, Ace?" he asked, pretending to whisper, but knowing full well that he was talking loud enough for them to hear.
"Wh-" Honor caught on.
"They'll need to know eventually anyway. Might as well tell them now" I said, talking to Logan only, but at the same volume.
"What are you two blabbing on and on about?" Finn asked impatiently.
"Finn! Who else have you not seen drink any alcohol?" Logan asked.
"Today, or..." Finn asked, and then the lightbulb flipped on. "Oh my god!"
"Are you kidding me!?" Honor cried.
Logan shook his head and smiled. "Not kidding you, sis" he promised.
Robert hugged me and smiled. "Well well, no wonder you looked more radiant than ever! I simply thought I'd just missed you so much for my heart to grow fonder" he teased.
I laughed as Honor jumped up and down in excitement. "Oh my gosh!" She exclaimed, looking like she was about to spontaneously combust. She rushed to us, looking as if she were going to give Logan a hug, but she went right to me instead and pushed Robert out of the way. "I'm so excited I'm crying!" she said, using her finger to wipe tears from the corners of her eyes.
"Breakfast! On me! We need to feed these mommas before they start picking us off one by one for snacks!" Logan said with a laugh.
"You go on ahead, Logan. I'll be right there " I promised. He nodded and kissed my forehead as everyone walked out. I pulled my mom's arm and held her back. The door shut and it was just the two of us. "Mom, I'm so happy for you!" I exclaimed, hugging her again.
She smiled and nodded. "'Me too. Who would've ever thought that I'd have a fresh kid with the love of my life" she said wistfully.
"I thought you said it was a baby with Luke, not coffee" I teased.
"Oh my god, could you imagine!?" she exclaimed with her eyes wide.
I laughed and just led her out the door.
