Lynn's POV

Yes, I do sense Erik, Charles automatically informed.

Is this the first time you're seeing him again? I probed in concern.

Unfortunately, yes, Charles replied in defeat.

But there seems to be something odd about him, Charles commented with uncertainty.

What do you mean? I enquired, mildly puzzled by his statement.

I can't tell. I just know it feels familiar, but not in a good way, Charles vaguely explained.

Don't worry about it. He's just being himself, I scoffed playfully and I could feel him briefly giggling as he smiled.

Thank you, love. I'd best be going, though. It's starting soon, Charles declared with a hint of reluctant laced in his virtual voice.

I know. And I'd be watching. Stay safe, my dear, I wished and returned my focus to the television set before me.

Attentively watching Jean's comprehensive presentation on mutations and genetics, it was naturally pleasing to find her so confident and knowledgeable about the topic of great interest but James, as did the rest of the humans at the session, were not quite impressed nor buying the advocated idea at all. James was bored and listless to say the least, evidenced by his continuous efforts to get me to make out but it irritated me more than anything else that I was actually aroused.

"Stop it! I'm trying to listen!" I snapped in frustration, mindlessly shoving him away as he continuously pecked kisses to the back of my neck.

"Aww..." James purred in that rich Scottish accent, flaunting me that adorable pout I could never resist smiling at.

"I'm sorry," I whispered guiltily.

"Come here," I egged, holding out my arms to him, and he happily cuddled me again.

"Just be quiet, alright?" I pleaded and he obediently nodded.

"We are now seeing the beginnings of another stage of human evolution. These mutations manifest at puberty, often triggered by periods of emotional stress," Jean articulated persuasively as she stood on the podium before the masses of discriminating eyes but was interrupted by a well-dressed man sporting a pair of skinny-framed glasses seated almost in the center of the spacious hall.

"Thank you, Miss Grey. It was quite educational," the political celebrity acknowledged cynically.

"However, it fails to address the issue that is the focus of this hearing. Three words. Are mutants dangerous?" The white-haired male challenged conceitedly as he looked around to his other comrades, inducing them to gossip amongst themselves.

"That's unfair, Senator Kelly. The wrong person driving a car can be dangerous," Jean composedly defended.

"We do license people to drive," Kelly countered nonchalantly.

"Yes, but not to live," I mumbled bitterly as Jean spoke the same on the live transmission.

"Senator, mutants who've come forward and revealed themselves publicly have been met with fear, hostility, even violence. It is because of that hostility that I am urging the Senate to vote against mutant registration. To force mutants to expose themselves-" Jean asserted but was cut off by the insolent human again when he was secretly handed several documents by presumably a subordinate who just entered.
