Lynn's POV

"With the buzz of a cure, her mind's already jumbled. And I trust you know precisely what's bothering her," I mentioned, gazing sympathetically at Bobby but he just wore that blank expression of horror.

"No matter what, I feel you owe her an explanation," I recommended and he finally responded with a nod.

"And an explanation, Bobby, is not an excuse," I emphasised resolutely.

"I'm sorry you might not have much time to find it, but whatever it is you say to her, it should be something she properly deserves," I rehashed with an amiable smile and he nodded again, albeit this time with more conviction.

"I'll talk to her, Lynn. Thanks," Bobby conveyed in a grateful tone.

"Are... Are we going to get punished?" Kitty prodded tentatively and Bobby hissed, snapping her an absurd glare for accidentally bringing my attention to that.

"Hmm," I hummed, pretending to consider as I furrowed my brows.

"Not if I could get an iced drink," I teased lightheartedly, flaunting the half cup of spirit in my hand and they both huffed in alleviation, cracking up, as Bobby graciously acceded to my request.

"And you probably should do something about that before Storm sees," I casually advised, gesturing with my eyes to the backyard's odd condition.

Rightly afraid of their Deputy Disciplinary Mistress who had risen to her role doubtlessly strict, reversely reducing mine to the lenient parent all the students yearned to seek, the anomalies were expeditiously repaired and with water actively gushing again, they sprinted off in a flash.

Just as Kitty grabbed Bobby and the two unobtrusively phased through the mansion walls, a part of me virtually came dislodged. I clutched my glass tightly and eagerly concentrated, but it was truly like Charles had just inexplicably evaporated. Back stiffening and heart pounding, I was rapidly engulfed in that wretchedly horrible blanket of uncertainty.

Raven, I need you to meet me in Cerebro, now. Please, I beckoned urgently.

Slushing the whole lot of chilled vodka down my throat, I shivered as the freezing liquid harshly bit into my guts. Yet, substantial invigoration elicited by the cool solvent bolted like lightning through my veins, vigorously pumping my blood in an astounding adrenaline rush.

I thrusted my chair into the air, easily overcoming the flight of steps, but my hasty landing was more rocky than perfect. Nevertheless, I accelerated over the concrete and swiftly swung the backdoors open, albeit shutting them softly as I sped my way to the elevator.

My patience wore thin with the sluggish descent and the grand dome's extensive security measures but eventually earning the inherently weird greeting of my name recorded awkwardly in my own voice, I briskly wheeled across the elegant bridge. As I manipulated the controls mounted into the sophisticated panel, Raven's quick paces echoed conspicuously within the polished halls but I had little attention to spare that could really be paid to her fiercely advancing treads.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Raven denounced, yanking on my wrist as I attempted to reach for the headpiece.

"Charles said this thing almost killed you last time!" Raven chided, glaring at me with an unyieldingly stern face.

"I lost him," I revealed meekly.

"I can't feel him, Raven," I reiterated in a wistful tone and her eyes melted faster than the fountain earlier as she hurriedly braced me in a hug.
