Charles' POV
The fantastic weather that graced us in the foreign land over the past week had suddenly given way to its grayer counterparts, casting a gloomy scene through the skies today as we aimed to roam about the last of the amusement parks on our itinerary.
Chillier winds and moderately lowered temperatures, predicted by the weather forecast that had served us accurately during this holiday, surely warranted a fuller set of clothing on us before we could continue exploring the Magic Kingdom for a second day in a row.
Accordingly, I decked myself in a plain navy knit top matched with a pair of black slim-fitted chinos while Lynn wrapped herself under an adorable cartoon sweater, perfectly suited for the festive season, and the versatile jeans she was dressed in on the day we first arrived, starkly contrasting her revealing outfit of a short V-neck floral dress just yesterday.
Casually slinging her vividly coloured purse across her body, Lynn swiftly secured a cotton scarf dyed in a muted shade of nude to the side of her bag, prudently preparing for any further drastic changes to the erratic climate and donned on her proudest investment, ever. While the silly decoration mounted with two large ears and a conspicuous bow looked ridiculous on its own, Lynn characteristically wore the gimmicked headband with poise, absolutely transforming its appearance with her elegance.
Excitedly, she interlocked our arms and happily skipped towards our breakfast venue, disregarding the probable aches plaguing her once wounded thigh as evidenced by her slight but observable limp every time she had to place weight on her injured side.
Nevertheless, I was glad that the trip had certainly lifted her moods.
Her sleep quality had improved strikingly for one, reducing the frequencies of her waking in the middle of the night and tossing around restlessly for most of it before she could be reduced back into nothing but a light slumber. Consequently, her energy pool could be properly recharged, finally reverting her perky and bubbly side that closely resembled the iconic mascots wandering about the magical premises.
Seizing the better half of the day to duly experience the remaining attractions we unfortunately were not granted the chance to cover due to the limited opening hours the day before, we eventually wound up in the umpteenth gift shop Lynn had unknowingly ambled into in her determined search for the precise souvenirs she strived to purchase for each of the X-Men as the atmospheres took a dip to the cool end.
Admittedly, it was reasonable for Lynn, inherently meticulous, to be particular in the selection of keepsakes for the youthful bunch and it was unsurprising she was contented spending extended periods trying to sieve out, ultimately securing the items she thought was best for Storm and Scott.
However, the fastidiousness that arose when picking up something for our precious little girl was truly astounding, standing at hours and exhausting almost all the stores within the arena that we were now already at the final department of the one just before the exit.
"Do you think this would be nice on Jean?" Lynn enquired eagerly, peering up at me with sheer excitement beaming tirelessly from her eyes as she spiritedly flaunted the set of neatly alloyed accessories printed with the image of Minnie Mouse wearing Santa's hat in front of my face.
"It's cute," I remarked honestly but my plain reply, unwittingly repeated on several occasions, inevitably hinted my lack of enthusiasm in the kiddy adornment, and perhaps the entire section in general.
"You're bored," Lynn perceptively noted as she carefully replaced the merchandise back onto the systematically arranged racks and looped her arms around my waist.
