SYNOPSIS:

Monochrome Rainbow is a lyrical free verse poetry book about looking on the bright side no matter how tough it gets. It's about finding color and hope in the darkness. It features a mix of introspective, melancholy and cautiously optimistic thematic concepts. From growing beyond the burdens of childhood trauma to the liberating beauty of an empty forest, from escaping the haunting horrors of everyday life to the comfort of breaking free from conformity.

This book was formerly titled Nocturnal Lullabies and it won the 2018 Wattys Poetry Award.

INTRODUCTION:

Life is hard and exhausting. The world is cruel and unfair, but there's beauty and hope lurking around every corner if you're willing to look for it. You just have to struggle through the pain, pick yourself back up and keep searching. Sometimes you'll get lost, sometimes you'll give up and lose hope, but life has a funny way of working itself out. You just have to learn to roll with the punches and play the cards life deals you, no matter how much of a horrific and chaotic mess the hand you're dealt turns out to be. Play that sucker as hard as you can. Beat life and all its bullshit at its own game.

I'll be the first to admit, I'm no poet. I don't know the proper structure or use of meter, rhyme, stanza, verse, scheme and all that fancy, sophisticated mumbo jumbo. I'm not a master of language or a literary genius. All I can say for sure is that I know how to string words together in ways that express my true thoughts and authentic feelings. 

These words may be an amateurish mess of melodramatic nonsense, but they came from the heart nonetheless. I hope you like them.
