"Dean? Why are you calling me?" He asked, i think i woke him up.
"You know how you used to hunt? Like ghosts and monsters and all that crap?" I asked.
"Yeah?" He said.
"There's something in my house." I said quietly.
"Something like a ghost?" He asked.
"I don't fucking know. I didn't hunt you did. Can you come check?" I asked.
"Yeah. It's about a 5 hour drive. I should be there by 12." He said.
I nodded. "Alright. Thanks." I said then hung up.
I stretched my back and walked back into the room. I carefully lifted Cas off the floor and put him on the bed beside Anna. I kissed his forehead and tucked him in.
It was only 7 so he'll probably sleep for another hour or so. So will she.
So I grabbed his hoodie off the chair, he took it off the night before, and i put it on. I walked downstairs, surprised that anyone was up.
"Hi Jessie." I said.
"Dean, Hi!" She smiled. She was breast feeding Zeke. I'm surprised he still nurses. I thought he'd be on the bottle by now.
"My milk supply is still high so he nurses. I'm trying to get him back on the bottle though." She said, as if she read my thoughts.
I nodded and sat down beside her. "Sam briefly explained what happened. You okay?" She asked me.
I shrugged. "I don't wanna have to move. Anna is used to our house." I said. "My dad is gonna come do a cleanse i think." I muttered.
"John?" She asked. "But you don't get along."
"No we don't. Cause he thinks i chose to be in love with another man." I mutter. "But being gay isn't a choice." I said.
"I know that Dean. And he's just trying to understand. Try having a good conversation with him. If he loves you he'll try harder." She said.
I nodded. "I'm gonna head out to grab coffee. Cas has a specific coffee he likes on the weekends, he's weird." I laughed. "Want anything?" I asked.
"Tea latte would be nice." She said.
I nodded. "You got it." I said, leaving the house.
I just went to starbucks. Still, it's one of my first times driving since the accident, so i was being very careful. Good thing it was just down the road.
I got Cas a caramel thingy that he likes. Got Jessie a tea latte and got myself just a coffee. I also got Sam a coffee. I headed back to Sams house. I carefully parked and got out. When i gave Jessie her tea latte she thanked me and kissed my cheek. I smiled at her, sitting beside her. We talked for about an hour before i heard little footsteps and Anna came down. She got on my lap and smiled. "Morning daddy." She whispered, hugging me.
"Mornin' princess. Want something to eat?" I asked.
She nodded.
"Mind if i cook some pancakes?" I asked Jessie.
"Just make a lot of them." She chuckled, bouncing Zeke up and down on her lap.
I grinned and walked to the kitchen. As i was cooking Anna wanted something to drink so i held her against my hip as i put one pancake on, then asked Jess if she could have a juice box, which she said yes to, so i gave her one. Then I kept cooking. Cas eventually came down the stairs. I didn't hear him though and jumped when he wrapped his arms around me.
"Jesus." I muttered.
"Nah, Cas." He said sleepily, kissing my shoulder.
I chuckled. "Caramel coffee shit you like on the table." I turned and kissed his cheek.
He smiled and pecked my lips. "You're the best." He went to grab it.
I flipped the pancakes. When i made quite a few i put them on the little island thing they have in their kitchen.
"Breakfast!" I called as Sam came down the stairs.
I put 2 on Anna's plate, then cut it up, and put a bit of syrup, then put it on the table. "Here sweetie." I kissed her forehead.
I got myself some and sat at the table with her. We enjoyed a nice breakfast.
I turned to look at Sam. "When dad comes to check my house, can you watch her?" I said.
He nodded. "No problem" He said.
I smiled and finished up eating. when everyone was done i loaded the plates into the dishwasher.
Cas came over to me. "So do you care to explain how i ended up on the bed?" He grinned, putting his arms around my waist.
"I put you there." I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Mhm, and why?" He asked.
"My back hurt on the floor and thought it couldn't have been comfortable for you either. So when i woke up i lifted you and put you there." I said, pecking his lips.
He tugged me forward by the hips. "Thanks" He smiled.
I wrapped my arms around him tighter, nodding.
"So when your dad comes we're going home with him?" He asked.
"Yeah, he's gonna check the place out. Might have to stay the night." I said.
He nodded and rubbed my back. "So then i guess that means no fun tonight?" He pouted. Oh fuck it is Saturday. Saturdays are usually date night.
"Anna's home this weekend anyways, Lisa is in Canada." I said.
He pouted.
I chuckled. "We'll see." I winked and kissed him gently, before turning around and walking to the living room.
We lounged around for a bit before my dad called. "Hello?" I answered.
"Remember the diner we went to?" He asked.
"Yes." I said.
"I'm heading there. I'll be there very shortly. Meet me and then i'll follow you back to your place." He said.
"Alright." I nodded, taking Cas' are before hanging up. "We're headin' out." I said to everyone.
"I come?" Anna pouted.
"No sweetie. You're gonna stay with Zeke and aunt Jessie. And uncle Sammy too." I kneeled in front of her. She nodded and hugged both Cas and I.
Cas drove us to the diner, where my dad was waiting.
"Dad!" I called out the window, he turned to look and see us.
He nodded. "I'll follow" He said, starting up his car.
Cas drove home. He parked in the driveway. "Do you think my dads still mad at me?" I whispered, looking at my lap.
"No." Cas said, turning off the car. He was about to get out, but i grabbed his arm.
"I'm scared." I whispered.
He turned to look at me. "It's okay baby." He leaned over to kiss me.
I put my hand on his shoulder and kissed him back.
"It'll be okay, i promise." He whispered.
I nodded, getting out of the car with him.
He reassured me by taking my hand as we headed to the door, waiting for my dad.
He walked up to us. "Before we go in, can you explain to me what happened?" He asked.
"Um so we got home from work, and we were standing in the kitchen when the lights flickered. It was fine until I heard a really loud bang from upstairs. So i ran to check on Anna but she said nothing happened. So then i walked back downstairs to talk to Cas and all the lights went out. So i ran back to go get Anna, and she and Cas went outside to call Sammy. And I went downstairs to check if it was the circuit board but it wasnt." I explained.
"Anything else?" He asked.
"I saw a woman. She looked scared. She was wearing a maids outfit. But she wouldn't let me leave the basement until i hit her with the fire place pokey thing." I said.
"That's it?" Dad said.
"He called me. But his phone was static noise, and he was banging on the basement door." Cas said.
Dad took a deep breath and nodded, opening up the front door. He stepped in, and right away he told us to go wait by the car. I peeked in, and saw that the cupboards were all open and the couch was moved and upside down.
I nodded and took Cas' hand, pulling him out to the car with me. I leaned my head against his shoulder, putting my arm around his waist, well lower waist, i put my hand in his back pocket. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and kissed the top of my head. "Is this just an excuse to touch my butt?" He whispered.
"Mhm. Maybe." I grinned, kissing his neck.
We waited about half an hour before my dad came out.
We were just giggling like teenagers, talking as I leaned against him.
"So?" I asked my dad.
"So your house definitely has something in it. I cant do anything until its night time though." He explained.
I nodded and leaned against Cas' shoulder.
"So then we should spend the night at Sams again?" Cas asked me.
I shrugged. "Yeah, i guess." I nodded.
"I need one of you here for help." My dad said.
I looked to Cas. "I'll stay." I said.
"Why don't we both?" he said. "Anna likes having sleepovers at Sam's." Cas said.
I nodded. "Alright." I looked over to my dad. "We'll both stay." I said.
He nodded. "Alright i'll just grab some things from my car." My dad said as we walked up to our house.
Cas and i walked in. I flipped the couch back over as Cas called Sammy to let him know and make sure it was okay.
I went upstairs and checked the rooms, everything else was in order.
I walked back down to see my dad and Cas in deep conversation, neither of them noticed me, so i leaned against the wall opposite them, where they couldn't see me, so i could listen.
"-engaged, yes." I heard Cas say.
"Will he ever forgive me?" My dad said.
"Probably not." Cas said.
Dad: "How can i show to him i'm sorry."
Cas: "I can't help you there. It has to come from you."
Dad: "But you've been with him for a while. You know him."
Cas: "I didn't screw him up in the head."
Ouch.
Dad: "I know. Would pie help? Does he still like pie?"
Cas: "Oh he loves pie."
Dad: "What if i made a pie?"
Cas: "You can't buy his affection back with pie."
Dad: "But what if i gave it to him as an i'm sorry, and we had a long conversation."
Cas: "I don't know if he's ready for that. Plus he really likes pie from the place around the corner."
Dad: "When will he be?"
I decided to walk in. "When will who do what?" I asked, walking over, behind Cas and kissing the side of his head.
"Nothing" Cas looked up at me. "So Sam said it's okay." He smiled at me.
I nodded, taking his coffee cup from his hands and taking a sip.
"I made you some too." He laughed.
"I like stealing your shit," I poked his nose.
He rolled his eyes and went to grab the other mug.
I sat where he was sitting. "Really? My seat too?" He chuckled.
i patted my lap, so he came to sit on me.
My dad cleared his threat awkwardly. "So, uh, Castiel says you two are engaged?" He smiled.
All i did was nod
"Dean." Cas looked at me he leaned over to whisper in my ear. "He's trying. Don't dismiss him so quickly." He whispered, then kissed my cheek.
"Yeah, he surprised me." I added, looking over at my dad.
"That's nice." He smiled.
"We have a video of the proposal, wanna see?" I said.
"Id love to."
So i lifted Cas off my lap and went to go get my laptop. One of my students emailed me the video so i just opened the email. I put the laptop down at our little island in the kitchen, where we were sitting and pressed play.
I chuckled at my plain obliviousness when i walked back into the room.
My dad actually smiled at it and laughed along with the students in the background.
At the end i pulled cas close to me and kissed him gently, to which he laughed but kissed me back anyways.
"You guys remind me of me and Mary." My dad said.
I looked from Cas to my dad. "How?" I said. Growing up he never talked about mom.
"Your love is just over powering and so real." He said.
"Why didn't you ever talk about mom when we were growing up?" I asked.
"It was hard." He said simply.
I nodded. "She'd be proud of Sammy." I said.
"She'd be proud of you too, son." He said sincerely.
Cas kissed my forehead and left the room.
"I miss her." I said quietly.
"I do too. Every day." He said.
"Is that why you never remarried?" I said.
"What?"
"Cause you love her and miss her?" I said.
"I can't move passed our time together. I'll never find someone like her." He said.
"I feel that way about Cas. I'll never find someone as special as him." I nodded, looking down.
"I'm so sorry i didn't accept you. Your mom would be disappointed in me." he said.
"Do you really think she'd be proud of me?" I barely whispered, my voice breaking slightly.
"Extremely." He nodded.
"Do you th-" i choked back tears. "Do you think she'd want me to forgive you?" I cleared my throat, lifting my gaze to look at him.
"I don't know. But i'd like it" He said.
I just nodded, looking back down. I wiped the tears that fell and sniffled. I cleared my throat. "I'll be right back."
I got up and went to look for Cas.
He was in our room, so i just walked right up to him for a hug. "Woah, hey." He whispered. "What's wrong?" He rubbed my back.
"I miss my mom." I said quietly.
He wrapped his arms around me tightly. He just held me for a while, then we went back down to the kitchen. I let go of Cas' hand and walked over to my dad, giving him a hug.
He was surprised and i think Cas was too, but i need to have my dad back.
"We still have a few hours before it's dark. Do you wanna meet your granddaughter?" i asked him.
"Really?" He patted my back before i let go of the hug.
I nodded.
"Really?" Cas said.
I smiled and nodded. "Really."
"Id love to."
