Oh boy did we have a good night.
He was laying against me, asleep. We were both still naked, and sleeping on one side of the bed, cause we didn't wash the sheets yet.
I woke up to the sound of my phone going off. "Hello?" i muttered.
"Did i wake you up?" it was Sam.
"Yes." I muttered, Cas snuggled closer to me.
"Dude. It's noon." He said.
"Okay. What do you want?" I sighed.
"I was gonna ask if you wanted to do a double date tonight?" He said.
"Uh. Yeah, well I'll talk to Cas about it and we'll see." I said, rubbing my eyes.
"mm." Cas groaned, gently hitting my chest.
"Sorry." I kissed his nose.
"Okay, talk to you later, then" He said
I hung up.
"Who?" Cas muttered against my chest.
"Sam." I whispered, rubbing his back.
"What did he want?" Cas opened his eyes and looked up at me.
"To know if we wanna go on a double date with him and Jess." I said.
"Yeah!" He nodded excitedly. That woke him up.
I chuckled "Alright. Now get your sexy ass out of bed so I can change the sheets." I said, carefully getting up.
I haven't had sex in a while. I feel.. different today. Slightly uncomfortable. I'm walking a bit differently, but that's alright.
I put on just some boxers so i wasn't completely naked as i did this. I went to the laundry room and just put them in the washer. The light flickered.
I frowned and looked up at the light bulb. "Cassie?" I walked out of the laundry room.
"Yeah?" He said from the kitchen.
"Didn't you just change the light in the laundry room?" I said.
"Yeah why?" He said. He was cooking.
"Cause it was flickering." I said, stealing a piece of bacon that was cooked.
He shrugged. "Might not be screwed in properly." he said.
I just shrugged and wrapped my arms around him from behind, resting my chin on top of his shoulder. I trailed my hands up and down his chest, as he cooked.
"You sore today?" he asked with a small laugh.
"Kinda." I shrugged. "But shut up." I chuckled.
We kinda just lounged around all day until we were going out with Sammy.
We were going to a nice enough restaurant that we both wore nice jeans, not ripped and not washed out, and we both had on a nice shirt, he wanted to put a tie on but that was too formal, so he settled for just a blazer. I fixed the collar of it for him and gave him a small kiss. We walked out to the car, he drove, I got in the passengers side. I haven't driven since the accident.
When we got there, we got out and Jess and Sam did too. We got there at the exact same time. Jess was really pregnant. Like she's gonna pop any time. Cas came up to me and took my hand, intertwining our fingers. I smiled and looked at him. "You're cute." I smiled and kissed his cheek, pulling him into the restaurant, after Sam and Jess.
They gave us a table and shit, and we sat and read the menus.
"Cas." I said, "What are you getting?" I looked over at him.
"I don't know, why?" He looked from the menu, to me.
"Wanna split the ribs? It says it's for two people." I said.
He scrunched up his nose in the most adorable way. "I don't feel like having ribs." He said.
I pouted. I'll probably get it anyways.
After we ordered - cas ended up ordering stake - we talked.
"So how are things with the baby?" I asked.
"Good! She's very active." Jess laughed.
"thats great," I smiled.
"When are you due?" Cas asked.
"Next week." She nodded.
I smiled, then looked over at Cas. He's so beautiful and it astonishes me every time i look at him. I grabbed his hand and smiled.
Sam cleared his throat so i looked over at him. "Heard from dad?" He asked.
"Why would i?" I tensed.
He shrugged. "I thought you might of, he's in town." Sam said. I tightened my fingers around Cas' hand.
"He is..?" I said slowly.
"Yeah. Came in y-" the waiter brought us our food but suddenly i wasn't very hungry anymore.
Once the waiter left, i mumbled an excuse me and got up to go to the bathroom.
My heart felt like it dropped to my stomach.
I muttered don't cry to myself over and over again, then i pushed the bathroom door open, and looked around, trying to prevent the tears.
I heard someone walk in and i didn't even have to look to know it was Cas.
"Dean." He walked up to me, wiping the one tear that fell down my cheek away.
I tried to say something but my voice was too shaky, so i just walked into his arms and rested my head against his, taking a couple deep breaths.
"Dean?" he said. "Why are you so upset? Evidentially i am aware it has to do with your dad, but what?" Cas said.
"I grew up here, in Kansas, mostly. I left home when i was 16. My dad hasnt tried to contact me since. It's like i don't even exist to him anymore. He hasn't been here since Sammy left for college. So why is he here now?" I mumbled.
"Perhaps setting up a lunch with him would be beneficial?" Cas suggested.
"A lunch. It would last five fucking minutes. Have you even been listening?" I sighed and shook my head and let go of him, cupping some water in my hands and wiping my face.
He frowned. "Dean. I know you're upset about your family but that doesn't mean you're allowed to take it out on me." He said, walking out.
I sighed. I slammed my hands against the counter and took another few deep breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth. In. out. I walked back to our table. i took a huge sip of my beer, then started eating. But my stomach churned.
I bit my cheek, then turned to look at Cas. "Sorry." I whispered.
He just nodded.
"I am." I said, wiping my hands and grabbing his, so he'd look at me. "I'm sorry i'm fucked up and don't tell you when shits bothering me, and i just lash out instead."
Again, he nodded. "it's alright." he said.
i looked to Sam. "i dont care that dads in town. He and i haven't spoken since i was 16." I said to Sam.
"Alright." Sam shrugged. "How do you do that to him?" He looked at Cas.
"Uh.. Do.. Do what?" he asked.
"Usually hes just say something like "Good for him." But now he's like legit telling me how he feels." He said.
"I.. what? How is that me?" cas said.
"hes nicer now that hes with you." Sam said.
"Gee, thanks." i rolled my eyes.
"Come on. You know you were a dick before." he said.
i rolled my eyes as chuckled, then kept eating.
"You know it's true." Cas said.
"You're taking his side?" I laughed.
"Well i mean....." He started laughing.
"Cas!" I chuckled.
"Jessie? Are you on my side?" I asked.
"All im going to say is that Castiel brings out the best in you." She said, poking at her salad.
I looked over at him. He smiled innocently. I smiled. "It's just because you're the best." I said, then kissed his cheek.
As we were about to order dessert, my phone rang. It was Lisa. She never calls me when she's with Anna. "Excuse me." I said, "order for me?" I said to Cas, squeezing his shoulder and walking outside to take the call. "Hello?" I said.
"Dean, oh thank god you picked up." She said, she sounded like she was crying.
"Whats going on are you okay? Is Anna okay?" I bit my lip.
"I'm fine." She said. "Anna had a seizure."
"She what?!" I said. "Oh god. Okay. Is she okay now?" I walked back inside to get my jacket and keys from Cas. "What happened? You called 911 right? Im coming right now." I said to her. "Cas, i need the keys." I said.
"What? why?" he looked at me.
"Castiel please just give me the goddamned keys. I need to go to Lisa's right now." I said.
"Why?! Dean you drank lots of beer, I should go with you."
"CAS. I need the fucking keys. Anna's in danger." I said reaching into his pocket for them.
Cas took out his wallet and put money on the table for the meal. "Sorry, we'll do this again soon." Cas said to them as i walked away from the table, still talking with Lisa.
"Dean wait!" Cas ran up to me. "I'm driving. I'm not risking you getting into another car accident." He said, taking the keys from me. I got in the passengers seat.
I made Cas speed. Not a lot but still over the limit so we could get there sooner. I just told him Anna had a seizure and i needed to get there now.
When we got to Lisa's apartment i ran inside. I pushed past Lisa and went to kneel beside where Anna was and the paramedics that were taking care of her were.
"What happened? What caused this?" I said, looking at the paramedics, then at Lisa. "What fucking happened?!" I said.
"Dean. Calm down." Cas came over to me. "Theyll tell you when they can. Let them do their job and get Anna back to our happy little girl okay?" He said, rubbing my shoulder.
I scoffed. I know i'm being a dick right now, but i'm worried.
Lisa was standing in the corner, a tissue in one hand, balled up, and against her mouth as she was crying, her other arm against her stomach.
I walked over to her. I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her, holding her to help calm her down. "It's okay. She's going to be okay." I whispered.
She hugged me back, tightly. "It was so scary." She whispered, hiding her face in my chest.
I rubbed her back. "She'll be okay." i said. "She's always been strong." I whispered
I looked over at her, laying on her side on the floor. I sighed.
"They had to know her biological sex so i had to tell them she was a boy." She hid her face against me as she started crying again. "She's not a boy. She's our little girl." she mumbled.
I rubbed her back. "It's for medical reasons." I said. "It's okay."
She eventually calmed down and just hugged me.
Cas was leaning against the wall, biting his lip.
"Which of you is the dad?" The paramedic asked. I didn't notice before but he's kinda hot. He's no Cas but hes not bad.
"Both of them are." Lisa said, letting go of me.
I looked over at her, then to Cas who started to smile.
"Oh. Well um.. Can i talk to you guys then?" He said.
"Yeah sure." I said all too quickly while looking him up and down.
"Are you checking him out?" Cas whispered.
I blushed. "Aren't you?" I looked at him.
He nodded and chuckled. I watched as he trailed his eyes from his shoulders to his butt. "Very subtle." I whispered, laughing slightly.
"Alright, so we've been waiting for
your son to respond to us, but as we've been waiting we, obviously with your wife's permission, took a blood sample to run some tests." He said.
I cleared my throat. "ex-wife," I said, my voice sounded softer than usual.
"Oops." He laughed. Cas squeezed my hand when he laughed, cause holy fuck. He's got a nice laugh and smile. "Yeah, well we've got an answer to why he had the seizure." He said.
"Would you mind calling my child a girl please. She was born a boy but prefers being called a girl."
"Do you know what epilepsy is?"
"Not really." I answered.
"epilepsy is an abnormal electric currency in the brain. People with this disorder can have seizures because of the following; theyre over tired, not enough food, too much hyperactivity and no medication. What sucks in your case is that you didn't even know he had epilepsy. This disorder sucks cause you can't know they have epilepsy until something like this happens." He said.
I nodded. "Thank you." i said.
We walked back over to Lisa. "She has epilepsy." I said. "We have o get her some medication." I said.
"What if the doctors say she can't go on hormones in a few years cause of her epilepsy. She'll be broken." She looked over at Anna who started responding to the paramedics.
"I'm sure that won't happen. There are lots of different epilepsy medications. We'll just get one for her that's compatible." I said.
"Dad?" Anna whispered.
Cas quickly walked over to her. She looked at him, then just hugged him.
He held her and rubbed her back.
I stood next to Lisa, wrapping my arm around her. "See? She's okay." I said.
The paramedics packed up their stiff, and the hot one gave me the prescription for the epilepsy medication. "Thanks." I smiled.
As they left Lisa went to the kitchen to make some coffee.
Anna was still hugging Cas. I walked over and kneeled beside them. "Hey sweetie."
"Hi daddy." She mumbled against Cas' shoulder.
"You okay sweetie?" I asked.
"My brain feels twitchy." She mumbled.
"Okay. Do you wanna take a nap?" I asked.
"No. I wanna stay right here with dad." She said quietly.
He nodded to me, and moved to sit on the couch with her in his arms.
"Do you want something to eat?" He asked her.
"Not hungry." She said.
"Something to drink?"
"Not thirsty."
"Something to... kiss?" He smiled. She giggled and kissed Cas' cheek. She rested back down, her head against his shoulder, and she ended up falling asleep on him as I was gone to her room to get her blankie that she always brings back and forth from here to home.
But when i walked back down she was passed out against Cas. I snapped a quick picture and smiled.
"Hes a great father to her." Lisa said from beside me.
"He is, isnt he?" I smiled.
