I ended up deciding to go. Lisa was totally okay with taking Anna. It was friday anyways. So Cas drove us to the diner i was meeting my dad at.
"I love you." Cas said in the car.
"Cas don't come." I turned to look at him. I was bouncing my leg up and down and felt like i was gonna puke.
"What?" He said when we pulled into the parking lot.
"Don't come in. He.... he'll get more mad at me if i bring you." I said.
"Dean, do you want him back in your life?" He asked.
"I don't know." I answered.
"Well. Im part of everything in your life. If you want him in your life, he's gonna have to get to know me too. And what better way than over an icebreaker lunch?" He said.
I turned away from him, biting my lip.
"I'm gonna need a dink after this." I muttered, getting out of the car. "C'mon." I said to him.
He took my arm and we walked in together. I looked around and my dad lifted his hand to show us where he was. I turned around to leave. "Listen to me, it'll be fine." Cas put his hands on my chest.
"Will it?" I bit my lip.
"It will." He said. He pecked my lips.
I took a shaky breath, then took one of Cas' hands and walked towards the table.
"Hey Dean." My dad said.
"Hi." I bit my lip. "Th-this is Castiel. My long term boyfriend." I said. It hasn't been super long but we're quite serious so who knows.
Cas smiled. "Hi." He said.
My dad nodded in his direction. "Nice to meet you, Castiel." He said. "I didn't know you'd be bringing someone." He said, i could hear a slight harsh tone in his voice, but chose to ignore it with just a curt nod.
I sat down with Cas. I was bouncing my leg up and down. Cas put his hand on my leg to stop me from fidgeting.
"Dean... I-" My sad started but the waiter came over.
"Can i get you started?" He asked.
"Beer." I blurted out. I cleared m'y throat. "Can i have a beer, please." I corrected myself.
Cas rubbed my leg gently to reassure me. "I'll have a black coffee, and a cheese burger, you don't want a burger too?" He asked me.
I shook my head.
"I'll also have a black coffee with a cheese burger." My dad said.
"Alright, i'll be right back with all that."
"Not hungry, Deano?" My dad said.
"Don't call me that." I said.
"Alright. Sorry," He said.
"What?" I looked up and over at him. "Did you just say you're sorry?" I asked. "Ive never heard those words come out of your mouth in my life." I said.
"Dean." My dad sighed.
"Are you gonna try to tell me i'm wrong?" I asked.
"That day... I think about how crappy that was of me to do all the time." He said.
"Then you shouldn't have done it." I said sighing of somewhat relief when my beer got here. I took a big sip. Cas kept squeezing and rubbing my leg to reassure me.
"What can i do for you to accept my apology?" He said
"Nothing." I muttered.
"Dean." Cas whispered. "Can you at least listen to what he has to say?" He whispered to me.
"If your mom suddenly decided after 10 years to randomly apologize. What would you do?" I crossed my arms and looked at him.
"i-i... I would.. i..." He stammered.
"Exactly." I stood up. "Great idea, dad." I walked outside.
"Dean wait!" Cas got up. I heard him say something to my dad about being right back.
"You must be on some kind of drug if you think i'm going back in there." I said. "It's not even been 10 minutes."
"Dean. He genuinely feels bad. I know he does, i saw it in the way he looked at you." He put his hands on my shoulders.
"He doesnt give a shit about me. He just doesn't want the bad reputation of being a shitty father. Like he actually is." I muttered.
"Dean, can you please come back inside?" Cas said. "You don't have to talk, just listen to what he has to say." Cas rubbed my arms.
"Cas.. I..."
"I'll give you my burger." he said.
That intrigued me. I said i wasn't hungry before. But it's just cause i was nervous. "You will?" I smiled.
He nodded.
"You really do love me." I kissed him gently.
"I do. Now get your cute butt back in there." He said, grabbing my arm.
"Cute butt huh?" I chuckled, walking back inside with him.
"Mhm, the cutest." he said as we were approaching the table.
"um, your food came." Dad said to Cas.
I looked over at Cas, who turned the plate so he got the fries and i got the burger. "You're the best." I sorta smiled and took the burger.
"Dean, can I say what I actually came here to tell you?" My dad said.
"If you want. No guarantees i'll answer you." I muttered. Cas put his hand on my leg again. I dunno why, but it was comforting.
"I feel extremely guilty for all ive done to you concerning your sexuality. You don't understand how much it haunts me. How i could even do that to my son, i don't know." He said.
I'm not his son anymore.
"Back then i didn't know that being gay wasn't a choice. I thought you chose this." He said.
Before he started talking again i looked at him. "What if i had? Like i can't. But if i had chosen to be gay, you wouldn't be apologizing to me?" I asked.
"No. That's not what i meant. I." He sighed.
"Whatever. Keep talking." I muttered.
"I can't imagine the state of pain you were in. Physically and emotionally." He said.
"Youre right. You cant. I told Sam i thought I was gay in confidence, and you overheard and thought the solution was to beat me." I said. He looked taken aback. "So, since being gay is, CLEARLY a choice, i decided that I'm not gay. And you know what fucked up thing the voice in my head, the voice that was telling me I was a worthless little faggot, the voice that sounded so much like it was yours, told me to do? Get married. So i got married to a woman. You weren't even aware cause i don't want anything to do with you. I also had a child with this woman, which is also something you don't know. Yeah. You're a grandfather. But you're not allowed to see her." I said, finishing my beer.
"I don't know what i can say to make you forgive me." He said. He was dumbfounded. I guess lots happens in 10 years.
"This was a great lunch. Let's not do it again soon." I stood up and went to the car. I sat in the passenger seat and waited for Cas to finish up and pay. He got in the car and sighed. "Dean." he sighed.
"I hate when you say my name like that." i leaned my head back against the seat and looked over at him.
"You shouldn't have acted like that towards him, he just wanted to apologize." Cas said.
I bit the inside of my cheek when my eyes started stinging with tears. "I don't care." my voice shook slightly.
"Oh no. Are you crying?" He asked.
I looked out the window. "No." I mumbled. "Can we please go home?" I said.
"Thought you wanted a drink?" He said. "How about the bar?" He asked.
"Okay." I said leaning my head against the window.
We got to the bar. It was a gay bar. He took my hand when i got out of the car and we walked in. "Can i buy you a drink?" He grinned at me.
I chuckled. "Are you hitting on me?" I asked.
"Maybe." He smiled, ordering us both a drink.
"Please don't drink too much, you're driving," I said.
"I just want one. Don't worry." He rubbed my back. We sat down and i leaned my head on his shoulder. We stayed at the bar for a few hours. Cas stopped drinking after one, like he said.
I however, didn't stop for the 3 hours we've been here. i lost track of what drink this was but i know ive had a lot.
I don't get drunk easily. I have a beer often but usually just one, at home just when i'm relaxing. But i had more than just beer here. I was feeling fine when i was sitting, but when i had to go pee, Cas needed to help me walk, which made me giggle.
Cas figured hes wait outside the bathroom for me, while i did what i had to do.
When i came back out there was some guy talking to him. As i got closer the guy said something about how he's cute. I wrapped my arms around Cas. "Yeah hes super cute. My boyfriend is sooooo adorable." I smiled, hanging off of him and smiling up at him.
He chuckled. "Let's get you home sweetie." He put his arm around my waist to stabilize me.
"Home sounds fun." I nodded and followed him to the car.
I got in the passengers seat. I hummed along to the music while we drove. Cas kept letting out small laughs when he looked over at me. I don't understand what's so funny.
When we got home, i stumbled getting out of the car, so again, Cas helped me.
I held onto him. "Can we have sex?" I asked him, hanging off of him.
"No" He said, helping me take off my jacket.
"Why not?" I frowned.
"Cause you're drunk sweetheart." He said, helping me to the bedroom.
"Am not." I flopped down on our bed.
"Yes you are, Dean." He said, going into the on-suite bathroom.
I heard him brushing his teeth. But i guess that's all that happened before i passed out. Cause i woke up the next day, in a cold, empty bed, feeling like i'm gonna vomit, and like my head is going to explode.
I walked to the bathroom to brush my teeth to get rid of the alcohol stench.
I also took a shower. I took some aspirin and walked downstairs. Cas was asleep on the couch.
"Cas?" I whispered. I feel like if i talk any louder my headache will never leave.
"Hmm?" He sat up, rubbing his eyes. "What time is it?" He asked.
"I don't know." I admitted. "Did i make you sleep on the couch?" I frowned.
"No, i slept on the couch cause a) You passed out diagonally on the bed, b) you smelt very badly of alcohol and c) Even when i tried to sleep on our bed, you kept moving around and i couldn't sleep." He said, getting up and going to the kitchen.
"I'm sorry." I answered, following him.
He smiled at me. "Its okay," He took out a pan to cook. It was loud when he took it out of the cupboard.
He took out the mix to make some pancakes. I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his waist as he started mixing it. I leaned my forehead against his shoulder and closed my eyes.
"You okay?" He asked when i let out a sigh.
"mhm." I hummed quietly.
He turned around and held me after the pancakes were on.
I sighed. I felt at home in his arms. "Feeling okay?" He asked.
I shook my head. "Shh." I put my hand over his mouth.
He chuckled. We ate pancakes and he took care of me and my hangover all day.
