War.

The word echoed through my bones hollowing out my soul.

"We've got to go," I said my voice wavering in worry if we'd make it in time... Or even win this war.
I ran to the living room. Ryan on my heels. Lucian was saying goodbye to his mother before joining us.

"Nathan. Now is the time you decide where you stand. Ashfield, or with Aura itself," I looked him dead on in the eyes, shadows flickering around the room.

He looked at Connor who had come out of hiding and back at me. Concern for his son. His heir. Then his eyes darted to the kitchen. To Lucian's mother. His sister-in-law.

"I'll help you. But please let me take my family. Let me keep them safe," He pleaded. Maybe he did have a heart.
I agreed with a quick nod.

I turned to the boys waiting behind me.
"Ryan. Take them with you to Dreamen. Keep them safe. Give them shelter in my palace. Lucian..." my gaze drifted to my mate.
"Watch out for them please. I've got to visit my Grandfather. I'll meet you at home," I said and kissed him.

I knew he didn't want me to leave when a war was raging loose. Didn't want me to get hurt.

I smiled at him, "I love you," was my last words as I disappeared into the realm of Dark Shadows. A different dimension...

Everything was blurred. Swirling colours of black and purple. Until snap. It clicked into place and I stood before my grandfather lounging in his throne. The silver armrests speckled with amethyst.

The nice thing about the Dark Realm was that the time was slower than ours. One hour in Aura meant three here.

"Isn't it a bit early for you to be sneaking away from your mate to train with my assasins?" he drawled slowly.

"Don't you ever get sick of your own voice," I grinned. Spending time with the smoke assasin guild had given me a bit more confidence and a bit more arrogance.

"Looks like someone's got a bit of a temper," he grinned evily, raising his hand to check his nails. A King on a throne. His personality switched all the time like the change in the wind. And now... It was dark and evil.

"Looks like someone's not getting to the point," I countered.
He seemed shocked by my outburst and then grinned... I flinched. He was evil reincarnacted.

"Ahh... Now did that impatientience get your old mate killed... Or was that your stupidity and arrogance... Or was it that you learned the truth about him?" I stiffened at his words. What truth... My eyes darted around the room as I heard footsteps shuffling nearby.

Two exits and the portal behind me. I traced along the black obsidian walls. And obsidian fortress. Stark blue writing began appearing. I took a step back. My eyes rushed to my grandfather. He looked at me confused, his evil smile still plastered to his face began fading as he watched where my gaze traveled.

"What are you staring at girl! You look like you've seen a ghost!" he boomed and I was saved from his wrath as the second to the leader of assasins walked through the portal, I could hear another set of footsteps following his.

I collected myself and randomly thought, 'well he'd shit himself if he knew I had.'

A dark grin spread across my face.
And the tension in the room relaxed as Vesper came into my view, young a boy with black hair followed him with his head bowed towards the cracked floor.

"Ahh, it seems the King of Evil and the Queen of Death are having an argument. Nothing new," he grinned at me.

We'd hated each other so much when he'd been assigned to train me. But somewhere along the line we had become friends.
I'm still surprised I can have a conversation with him and not slit his throat.

I looked to the boy with his head bowed slightly so his face was hidden beneath his hood. The stance so similar.
Where had I seen it before...
The boy looked up to me, meeting my eyes. Shock ran though me. Those eyes were so similar... The black hair... The sly grin... His movements... Only one person I knew could resemble him.
Maybe he had more than just a cousin... But a brother too.

"Hey, what's your name?" I asked kindly to the boy. He seemed to be a bit shy.
"My names Stephen, your Majesty," he sparked up at the attention, the candlelight flickering in his eyes

"And may I ask your surname?" I said probing for that one detail that would tell me if I needed to drag this boy with me to Dreamen.
"Well, I was found on the guilds doorstep when I was young... And around my neck they found this... So I believe this is my surname..."
He pulled a silver chain from under his cloak and showed it to me.
I stared at the silver tag with the word Silver written on it.
Of course Lucian had a lost brother! Of course!

"I know your brother," I looked at him still shocked.
"But... But I'm an orphan... How can i have a brother... I don't believe you," he stood looking at me as if I was crazy.
"Would you believe it if you met him?" I asked. This was a favour I would do for my mate. Bring his family home safe.
"You're serious aren't you?" he asked reality sinking into his tan face. I nodded and looked at the people watching our exchange. My grandfather looked amused upon his throne and Vesper looked shocked at the fact his apprentice was the brother of the queens mate.

I looked at them and laughed, "It's a small world ain't it? Only makes you think who's out there, waiting, watching..." and evil smile spread across my face as I walked with Lucian's brother and the Second in command to the King of Assasins through the portal to Dreamen. To home.
