Ch. 18 - Memories

*Third POV*(flashback)

"Wow! Your a lot stronger than I thought." The two girls Akane and Sakura, were on the ground in the forest, trying to catch their breath after their training.

"Thanks." Akane said in a breathy tone. The two sat there for while, enjoying the comfortable silence between them.

"You know, you should join me in taking over the kingdom. Me and You against the world." Akane looked at Sakura, unsure about the idea of joining her. Akane just met Sakura but for some reason, Akane felt like she had a connection with Sakura. Akane wasn't the only one feeling this way, Sakura felt this way also.

Even though she didn't admit it to herself, Sakura was scared about this connection. She didn't know what it meant but, she didn't want this to turn into more than it already is. Sakura has a hard time trusting people because of her past.

Suddenly Akane stood up, and went to Sakura and stood in front of her and said.

"OKAY! Me and You against the world." Akane held out her hand to Sakura, waiting for her to take it. Sakura reluctantly took her hand, and as soon as she did, she felt sparks. Sakura gasped and let go, causing her to fall back down.

"Are you okay?" Akane asks, chuckling a little bit. But, Sakura wasn't paying attention to Akane. Sakura was staring down at her hand, trying to figure out what's going on.

"Uh, Sakura? Sakura? SAKURA!"

"WHAT!" Akane stared at her in shock by her anger. Sakura noticed this and mutters "Sorry, I didn't mean to yell. Let's go back to the house." Dark shadows cast under Sakura's eyes. She stands up on her own, and starts walking to the direction of the house, with Akane following behind her.

*Akane's POV* (Flashback over)

I run up to Sky and help her. I used my scythe to break the vine that was wrapped around her leg, Sakura's vines weren't as strong as before. Maybe it's because, Sakura's weakened.

After I broke the vine, I helped Sky up, and pushed her behind me while staring at Sakura with hatred in my eyes. Sakura chuckled, and tried to get up but she fell back down.

"You have every right to hate me, I abandoned you when you needed me the most. It was supposed to be me and you against the world but, I took that all for granted and threw that away. I wanted you to hate me because - because I felt a strong connection towards you, something I never felt before in my life, and I didn't want that to turn into more." My eyes softened when I heard her say all of those things. At that moment, I felt conflicted. I hated her for what she did to me but at the same time, I wanted to be with her. I can't lie, the connection I feel towards her is still there.

Before I could say anything, Sakura cut me off.

"You may pass, I lost," Sakura managed to stand up. She staggered towards us but instead of standing in front of us, she walked passed us. She stops, and says "I will hate myself for the rest of my life, for what I did to you, Akane." Then she keeps on walking - without looking back. I felt a tear stream down my face, as I let the person I care about most walk away from me. Maybe it's for the best, if she wasn't in my life. She proved to me that - she wasn't somebody I could rely on.

"Are you okay?" I felt a hand on my shoulder. I quickly wiped away the tear and said.

"Yeah, I'm good. Let's go get that demon record." I brush off her hand, and walk to the direction of the demon record.
