I wake to someone shaking me.
"Lucy, come on, get up." A groggy voice says.
I open my eyes to reveal a sleepy Jason Todd. His hair sticking up in every direction, his eyes not as bright, and his figure slumped slightly.
"Come on, I'm taking you to school." He says.
I nod and get up.
"What about my clothes?" I ask.
Jason walks over to a chair and grabs my freshly washed uniform.
"Here. Get dressed, and meet me downstairs in thirty minutes." He instructs.
I take the uniform, and Jason leaves. I quickly dress, brush my teeth, wash my face, and pull my hair up into a neat bun. Then, I walk out of the bathroom, pull on my high tops, and grab my backpack. Finally, I walk downstairs.
"You ready?" Jason ask once he sees me. I nod.
"Let's go." He hands me an apple, and I dig my teeth into it.
The journey to school is taken in a comfortable silence, which is nice. Every once in a while I sneak glances at Jason, and he does the same.
When we make it to school, I realize the bell has already rung.
"Class has already started." I say.
"Has it? What class are you in?" Jason ask.
"Math." I answer.
He nods and motions for me to lead the way. I walk ahead until we get to my math class. I breath in and out, then knock on the door. A moment later, Ms. Sanderson opens the door. I walk in, followed by Jason.
"Ah, Lucy, glad to see you're back." She smiles. Ms.Sanderson always was a nice person. She is the only teacher that looks at me like a normal human being. "Oh, whose's this?" She motions towards Jason.
"Jason Todd." Jason introduces.
"Tabitha Sanderson." Ms. Sanderson returns. "Well, Lucy if you could please take your seat. Mr. Todd, thank you, for bringing her in." Jason and I nod.
I begin to walk to my seat when Jason grabs my wrist, stopping me. I turn to him, and he shoots me a goofy smile. I smile back at the sight. Then he let's my wrist go and leaves. I walk to my seat, ignoring the whispers and glances.
"You know he's just pitying you, right." Francine says as I sit down.
Francine Cogsworth. Francine is pretty much the school bully. She thinks she's better than everyone because her parents are fairly wealthy. She's never been nice to me. What reason does she have to be. Since sixth grade, she and her minions, Kitty Inkwell and Daisy Preston, have made my life torture. I try as hard as possible to ignore her and stay out of her reach, but she always finds me.
I stay silent, ignoring her comment.
"I mean, come on, what would someone like that want with someone like you?" She sneers.
I place my headphones in my ear and continue to ignore Francine. I look down at my phone, trying to find a song and realize that Jason put his number in my phone. I smile slightly at the sight, but I remember the vow I made with myself. Don't get attached.
