I stare mesmerized into the eyes of my soon to be husband's best friend, the one person here that I'm sure knows the most about me despite never having met me. He looks down at me with amusement in his eyes, but I can tell he's processing me. He's making sure that I am worthy of Jason and that Jason is worthy of me.
"Hey, Harper, what's with kidnapping my girl? Don't you have your own damsel to annoy?" Jason jokes as he brings Roy into an embrace.
They separate smiling. I look between them and instantly notice the sense of safety present in their eyes. Roy and Jason have been through a lot together. They learned to call each other family when they didn't have one. They became each other's safety and acceptance in a world they knew couldn't provide those things for them. Not at that time in their lives.
"Where is the princess, anyway?" Jason questions, giving the room a quick once over.
"Oh, she's somewhere. Probably catching up with your brother." Roy shrugs and waves his hand dismissively.
Jason nods in agreement before collecting me in his arms and hugging me close. I quickly replace my look of awe with a friendly smile, remembering that I'm supposed to making a good impression, not a creepy one.
"Roy, I would like for you to meet my beautiful bride, Lucy Quinn." Jason gives me a quick introduction.
Roy extends his hand to me, and I take it, prepared to give it a quick shake. Instead, Roy brings my hand to his lips and places a delicate kiss on my knuckles. I blush at the gesture. Roy looks up at me from underneath his eyelashes and gives me a quick wink. He's decided, and he approves. I smile and pull my hand away from Roy, letting it fall to my side.
"The rumors are true?" Roy ask, staring deep into my eyes as if I remind him of an old friend.
"They are." I nod, confirming what is clearly evident.
"I can't believe Harley Quinn managed to keep you a secret for so long. Usually, she'll tell anyone everything, especially if they're her captive." Roy shakes his head in amusement as if flashing back to an encounter with my mother.
"Mom can be secretive when she wants to be, or so I've heard. Most of the time, she's just how you described her." I chuckle.
"Regardless, the best secrets can't stay hidden forever." Roy smirks, and the blush returns.
"Jason!" My head snaps slightly to Roy's side as I watch a gorgeous figure clad in a long purple gown stride up.
I know my face of awe is returning as I watch the woman walk towards us. I watch as her bright pink hair bounces slightly around her face with each step she takes. She has pulled a few strands to her back, and the tips of her hair seem to glow in this lighting. Her orangish complexion fits her well, and she radiates as she struts forward. She glances at me quickly, and I can't help but notice how beautiful her emerald green eyes are. The color seems to take up the entirety of her eye.
"Uncle Jay!" A smaller voice exclaims.
I look beside the woman and notice a small toddler standing beside her. The toddler is dressed similar to her mother, and but is not an exact look alike. The little girl has softer features compared to her mother. Her hair is a duller pink, almost peach. She is gifted with the same emerald eye color, but her eyes resemble the normal human eye. Her skin is not as dark but instead is more of a muted orange.
The little one makes a break for Jason, her mother following close behind. The child leaps into his arms, instantly wrapping her tiny arms around his neck and burying her head into him. Her mother encloses Jason in a tight embrace while giving his cheek a quick peck.
