Marceline's POV

"Marshall..." I called through the woods as I floated towards the cabin in the woods. My guitar was around my neck and over my shoulder, so I started to strum a few notes from a song I had written a few days ago.

"If there's anything I can do,

If I can be there for you,

If you let me see my promise through,

Then forever, I'll love you."

"When the evil people hu-urt you,

I'll let you know they hurt me too,

And then together we can do,

Whatever those in love were meant to do," I heard a second voice call out.

Did I say I wrote this? I meant Marshall and I.

As I rounded the corner and saw the cabin, he and I sang the final verse in unison.

"And even if I hurt you,

Just remember I love you,

And I hope we'll be together,

Together, forever."

He came out of the cabin, a huge grin on his pale face and red eyes gleaming. "Marcy. It's good to see you."

"And you, as well." I returned his smile easily.

"Forget the formalities. Let's just rock. Do you remember Birds of Tokyo?"

"Only if you remember Florence + the Machine."

"Poets of the Fall."

"Tool."

"Emilie Autumn."

"A Perfect Circle."

"My Chemical Romance."

"Arctic Monkeys."

"Of Monsters And Men."

I burst into a fit of giggles. "Gotye."

Marshall chuckled at that name too. "Loon Lake."

"Seeker Lover Keeper."

"Knife Party."

"Uh... Okay, I'm out." I kept giggling. "But seriously, Knife Party?"

"Yeah." Marshall sighed. "That one was a last resort."

"Oh, wait! I got one! Skrillex!"

"Haha, okay, that's enough."

But I was just getting started. "Macklemore, Mumford and Sons..."

"Now we're getting ridiculous."

"Ball Park Music, Fall Out Boy, Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, -"

"Shut up! Shut Up!" Marshall lunged forward and smashed his lips on mine, just as I was about to say arguably the worst band of all time... I slipped it out anyway, pulling away from Marshall to say it. "One Direction."

"Now you really need to shut up, before I have to punish you." Marshall grinned at me.

"Please do..." I mumbled, leaning into him and giving him a long, lingering kiss. Eventually our kissing reverted to making out. Our tongues met, but, unlike our first kiss, I felt no sparks. Nothing.

We pulled away at the same moment. "The magic's gone," I breathed. "I don't..."

Marshall sighed. "And there's no stirring. I can't..."

"I'm sorry, but this thing won't work out, Marshy." I looked at the floor helplessly. "This whole time we've been having sex and making out and singing songs... we've hardly spoken. We know everything about each other, but we also know nothing about each other.

"We're better off in a brother-sister relationship, Marshall," I finished. "I love you, but not... that way."

Marshall didn't seem hurt, or upset. In fact, he seemed like he agreed, which he probably did.

"Let's face it," Marshall sighed. "None of these gender bent relationships are gonna work out. Finn and Fionna... no. If there's only gonna be one, I'd put my money on the Candy Royalties. But... no. Marcy, I totally, 100% agree with you. Brother-sister."

"Bro-sis."

"Bro-sis," Marshall agreed.
