14: Cappuccino Chiaro

We were huffing and puffing as soon as we reached his car, "Why did we even run?" I asked as I try to catch my breath. "For nothing?" He said with a laugh. "But it was fun, wasn't it?" He asked and fished his car keys from his pocket.

I nodded as he opened the car and told me to get in, hindi ko alam kung bakit pero I felt safe. I felt na hindi sya masamang tao, na kailangan nya lang talaga ng tulong.

"So are we gonna meet your parents now?" I asked him as soon as he started the engine.

He shook his head as he manuevered out from the car park, "I'll take you out on a date to get to know you, and besides we wouldn't want our cover to be blown tommorow night, would we?"

Sabagay. We barely know each other so a date would work kung gusto namin na makilala ang isa't isa.

We were silent althroughout the drive to god knows where.

So I tried to break the silence, "By the way where are we going?" Pero nagulat ako nung narinig ko din syang nagtanong kasabay ko, but I barely heard what he said.

He chuckled and said, "I'm sorry, what was your question?"

"Well, I was just wondering on where we are going?" I said as I smiled awkwardly.

"Oh. Well I was planning for Tagaytay but since it is late already I'll just take you to my favorite place nearby the city." He said his eyes still on the road.

"Oh. Really? I haven't been there to Tagaytay, I guess it would've been nice." I wondered out loud.

"Maybe we could go there some other time."

Wait. What?

His words rang in my head, some other time.

So this won't be the last of our so-called dates? Eh, don't think too much about it Kisses. Malay mo nawala lang sa isip nya na panakip butas ka lang para sa isang dinner. And para bang nasira yung mood ko na kanina gumaan na.

"Kisses." I heard him call my name. All my response was a "Hmm?"

"Are you alright?" He asked as he took a left turn.

"Yeah." I shortly said still my mind wandering.

And natapos yun doon. But I was quite surprised nung kinausap nya ako ulit, "So any favorite songs?"

"Well that sure is difficult." I said as I straightened my hair with my fingers.

"Well, kung artist na lang kaya?" He asked not skipping any beat. "Mahirap din yun, but I got to say Taylor Swift does have a great influence on me." I admitted waiting for his response.

"Hmm. Not bad really, mine is Panic! At The Disco." He said with a hint of smile on his lips.

I thought the flow was getting good, but for some unfathomable reason nahinto nanaman yung usapan namin. 

We both again fell into silence.

And what made it worse is that we are stuck in this city's huge traffic, buti na lang naka bukas yung radio.

So the awkward silence was filled with music.

I looked at her and have to smile, as we go driving for a while.

I hummed as I recognized the song.

Her hair blowing in the open window of my car.

"And as we go I see the lights watch them glimmer in her eyes. In the darkness of the eve-" I sang quietly but I was surely surprised nung marinig ko na sumabay si Ed.

"And I got all that I need. Right here in the passenger's seat." We sang and this time it sure isn't eerily quiet. Our voices were not so perfect but I smiled at the thought that somehow when words fail music can't.
