21: Cortado

I stood there sa counter, bored as I could ever be. It is a boring noon like it always is kasi konti lang yung customers. Katatapos lang kasi ng lunch, and as expected di ko na nakita si Ed.

Marco who is Ed's friend is also rarely seen in here aside from days when he is visiting Vivoree, pero everytime he is in here he does not say a thing about his friend.

Just like that nawala sya. Biglaan, hindi man lang nya dinahandahan. Pero sabi nga nila cold turkey works much better.

I sighed as I got bored and stared out the glass panes of the cafè.

"Kiss." It was Vivoree who called me as she stood across me. "Oh?" I asked snapping out of my thoughts.

"Okay ka lang?" She asked her face full of worry. "Oo naman." I said as I smiled at her. "Sure ka?" She asked once more so I nodded.

"Parang hindi naman eh, alam mo kasi ever since that night na sinundo ka ni Ed you started acting like this." Sabi nya worry is very evident in her voice. Talaga? I've been like this ever since? Gano na ba katagal since that night? One week na din yata.

"Wag kang mag-alala Vivoree. I'm fine, medyo magulo lang isip ko ngayon." Pagpapalusot ko. "Pasensya na kung si Marco hindi makapagsalita regarding kay Ed. Alam ko naman na may something sa inyo." She said as she broke our eye contact as she held my hand.

"What do you mean na may something sa amin?" I asked at bigla akong kinabahan. Hindi ko alam kung bakit. Siguro dahil naratakot akong malaman nila na I agreed to be his date para lang sa isang gabi tapos nagkakaganito na ako.

"Its very obvious to see the sparks fly between you guys. I wish you both see each other again." She said as she squeezed my hand, then ate May called her.

"Sige na, may order pa." Sabi nya sabay takbo papunta kay ate.

I smiled and entertained a customer as she went to the counter, the day went on like any normal ones. But still no matter what I do nasa isip ko pa din sya, naiisip ko pa din yung yakap nya, and sometimes I think I can hear him calling my name. Funny right? I think I am going crazy already.

My friends are still clueless sa date namin, I decided na mas better na they know nothing of it. Malay ko ba, I don't feel like I am Kisses already. Ever since that day para bang he took away a piece of me and took it kung nasaan man sya ngayon.

Nasaan na nga ba sya? Hay. This is so hopeless.

"Hi." A new customer greeted me dragging me back to reality. She's so pretty and kamukha sya ni Ed? Hay. Kisses. Please nasosobrahan ka na kaiisip dun sa lalaking yun.

"Good morning ma'm. What would you like to order?" I asked her with a smile. "I'd like to order a whole chocolate strawberry cheesecake. And a Cortado." She said as she took her wallet from her sling bag.

"Anything else?" I asked as I was done punching her orders.

"Oh. Yes, a mocha with a shot of espresso." Hindi ko alam pero parang binihusan ako ng malamig na tubig as I heard the said order.

"Miss? Are you okay?" She asked me with worry in her face, "Sorry ma'm I just remembered something." Sabi ko as I pushed away the thoughts running on my head.

"Everything costs 550 pesos." I said as I smiled at her once more.

"Thank you uhmm." She said as she handed her exact money and squinted her eyes on me.

"Kisses." She said as she read out my name tag.

"It was nothing ma'm, we'll just serve your order." I said with a chuckle. "There, that smile is much better." She said and trotted off.

And dun ko lang narealize, it was the first genuine laugh I had since the morning and it feels good kahit paano.
