33: Decaffeinato

Niyakap ako ni mom as soon as I got home pero syempre may kasama na din yung sermon.

"Grabe yung pag-aalala namin Kisses. Sa sususnod makikinig ka sa amin ah." Sabi ni mom at pinaupo ako sa sofa.

"Kisses?" It was Ed who came running in the living room with worry and relief both etched on his face. "Good evening tito and tita." Bati nya kay mom and dad as he stopped on his tracks.

Tito? Tita? I looked at my mom quizically and she shrugged meaningfully. Nako. What could have happened nung wala ako dito?

"Sige na, maiwan na muna namin kayo dito ni Ed." Sabi ni dad at agad na kinuha yung kamay ni mom. Tumayo naman sya at sumunod kay dad palabas ng sala.

"How are you? Are you feeling okay now?" Tanong ko sa kanya as he settled on the seat across me.

"Yes I am feeling much better now thanks to your parents who were very kind to me." Sabi nya as he stared at his fingers as if they were the most interesting things.

"Why are you here? How did you even found me?" Tanong ko as I looked at him, but his eyes were still glued on his hand.

"I asked Maymay about where you are, and told me you were on a break. But she won't give me any other information besides that. So I asked Marco." He said finally looking up and met my eyes. He is still breathtaking as I had remembered.

"Marco then asked Vivoree if I could get some other information about you, but she just won't give in too." He said with a chuckle.

"So I went to Maymay once more and begged her." He said his tone turning serious.

"She gave me your address but not your contact number, she said that I need to find you with only one limited source to prove that I am indeed very serious with you."

"So what would that supposed to mean?"

"Gosh Kisses. Why does everything so difficult when it's you?" He said, not sounding rude but he sounds afraid and maybe even sincere.

"When it comes with you my tongue gets tied, when it comes with you I can't seem to keep my act, how do you even manage to make me feel this way?"

I was speechless.

"I came here not for a favor, I came here to try to win you back. I know it sounds ridiculous but can't you see? I am so damn crazy about you."

Hear that? That is the sound of my jaw dropping to the ground.

"My parents has been looking for you ever since that ball, my sister even wants to meet you. I should have known not to let you go since that night. But yeah. I was quite an idiot. " He said with a laugh.

"Can you say something?" He told me and kept his eyes on mine.

What should I say? My feelings are all too conflicted. Too jumbled. But I know I feel just the same, ever since that car ride I just know.

But I do not think my heart is ready for any of it.

"I'm sorry Ed. Its not that I do not like you, I am just not ready for anything like this." I said and broke our eye contact. Masakit na ginagawa ko to, nakakasawa na ipush away yung mga tao pero kailangan. Kailangan kong makasiguro kung seryoso sya sa lahat.

"I get it." I braced myself, baka katulad lang din sya ng iba na sumusuko agad. Ayoko nang umasa.

"I will prove myself to you, it won't matter how long I would wait. But I will, for you." Wait. What?

I looked at him not really believing my ears.

"I am very sorry Kisses, but I don't easily give up on people or things that I want." He said with a smug smile.

"Good night and sweet dreams." He said and stood from his seat and left me there my heart fluttering with joy.

"Crazy." I said as I watched him walk to the upper floor.
