15: Bonbón

"This is your favorite place?" I asked in disbelief as we entered a grocery store. "Silly, of course not we just need to get some food." He said with a laugh and took my hand as if it wasn't such a big deal.

Ughh. Of course Kisses wala lang yan sa kanya, he grew up in Germany malamang iba culture dun mas liberated. At kahit na awkward para sa akin na hawak nya yung kamay ko hinayaan ko na lang.

Hindi big deal yan para sa kanya. I chanted in my head repeatedly.

"Halika na. Let's go grab some food." Sabi nya sabay hatak sa akin.

"So what do you want?" He asked as we strolled through the shelves deciding for ourselves what we want, he then grabbed a couple bags of chips.
"You can take what you want." He encouraged me. Well yeah I am hungry but chips doesn't seem to be appetizing.

"I want some apple." I said.

"Then let us go." He said with a smile and off we went to the fruit's section. We took two apples with us and went to the dairy section where he took some cheese with us.

"What is it for? We don't have a bread." I said as I looked at him put the two boxes of cheese in our basket.

"You'll see." He said with a wink.

"Okay na ata to." I said as I looked at the things in our basket.

"Hmm. Yeah. It seems to be enough for tonight." But just as we were walking papunta ng cashier hinatak nya ulit ako. Oh lord. Where are we going this time?

And lo and behold we are at the wine section.

I gave him a questioning look pero busy sya sa pagtingin ng mga wine. Gusto ko sana sya pigilan pero looked at me and smiled. Not the creepy kind but a sheepish one kaya napatigil ako.

Oh of course that is for the cheese without bread.

"Come on, let's go get some disposable glasses then we can go already."

And he was true to his words. Pagkatapos namin magbayad we hit the road once more.

"Here listen to this, just as I promised." He told me as he plugged his usb cord to the car's stereo connecting it to his phone. "My favorite band." He said proudly.

An unfamiliar song came, his vouce was different but it bears this beauty which I can't quite determine.

"Spun the stars on her fingernails but it never made her happy 'cause she couldn't ever have me." I heard him sang a few lines.

I listen eagerly, kasi sabi nila when you listen to someone's "song" in there you could see hints of them and their emotions.

"But who could love me, I am out of my mind." He sang a line once more.

I looked at him but he was paying attention on the road, or is he? I looked at him carefully and tried to see if he was doing any good as this song plays, sure the instrumentals sound cheery but the lyrics sure are something else.

And tahimik kami hanggang sa matapos yung kanta, "How was Panic! At The Disco? Told you they are great." He said. And in that moment alam ko na napipilitan na lang syang ngumiti.

"Alam mo, hindi mo yan dapat sinasarili." I said carelessly. "What?" He asked as his face scrunched in confusion. Good lord. But di sya nakakaintindi ng Filipino kung hindi baka isipin nito na mahilig ako mangintrude sa buhay ng may buhay.

Ano ba yan Kisses, tandaan mo he just needs you for a date at isang beses lang yun mangyayari. Wag kang maattach. Okay?

"Nothing. I just said that yes of course they are good." I said forcing up a smile as he turned his head on my direction.

"I told you so." Then he looked back on the road.

Minutes passed and it was still the songs of his favorite band playing, and hindi pa rin kami nakakarating sa so called favorite place nya.

"Gaano pa kalayo?" I asked breaking the silence despite the song that is playing.

"Hmm? I'm sorry I don't think I understand you." He said. Oo nga pala. How could I forget.

"Are we still far from your favorite place?" I asked. He smiled at me and said, "Here we are." I was surprised because we are quite dar from buildings and we are in someplace quite rural-ish.

Bigla aking kinabahan. Pano kung masamang tao sya? Pano kung balak ako nito ichop-chop? Ahhhh! Bakit ba ako nagtiwala?!

"Where are we?!" I said almost shouting.

"Calm down will you, I won't hurt you if that's what you are thinking. We are going on a picnic Kisses." He said and laughed at the look on my face.

Then he unbuckled his seat belt and left me in the car.

"Oi! Wait!" I said as I unfastened mine and also went out of the car to follow him.
