1: Caffé Americano

The usual hum of the Christmas songs rang throughout the café. September na pala, matagal na din pala since I have enjoyed myself like this.

"Thank you sir, your order will be served later." Ate Maymay's voice is very distinct despite all the other voices of the people in this small café.

Ate May is the manager of the shop which is just a branch. But despite that she deals with it with all her might.

Kaya hanga ako sa kanya eh.

"Hay grabe Kisses, kulit ni kuya kanina sabi nga na wala tayo nung Madeline na tinapay na hinahanap." Reklamo nya sa kin habang nakafold yung arms nya sa harap nya.

"Nako. Kalma ate May ang beauty oh." I teased.

"Nako Kisses, maganda talaga yan." Sabi nya sabay tawa. "Di ba Christian?" Tanong nya bigla sa panadero namin paglabas nya ng kitchen.

"Ha? Ano ba sinabi mo ate May?" Tanong nya habang hawak pa rin yung bagong bake nyang cookies.

"Basta oo nalang." Pangungulit ni Ate.

"Eh mamaya kung ano yan. I might be walking into a trap ah." Sabi nya habang sinusuri yung facial expression namin ni ate.

"Excuse me. Baka pwedeng mamaya na kayo magkwentuhan kasi I need to order." We heard a voice of a girl na sobrang sungit ng tono.

Tinignan sya ni ate May mula ulo hanggang paa, pero maganda talaga. As in.

"Sorry po Ma'm. May I take your order po?" I said as I smiled sweetly at her.

"I want some Caramel frappuccino with added whipped cream. I also want some freshly baked cookies." Sabi nya and definitely demanding sya.

Nako. Ito yung mga customer na minsan ang sarap lagyan ng kung ano yung pagkain eh. Pero syempre ayaw naman namin madungisan yung name ng café. So we just bear with them.

Hay. Yaan mo na nga sya.

After paying for her order she immediately looked for a seat. Di pa nga ako nagthathank you walk out na agad.

But we just shrugged it off and kanya kanya na uli kami ng ginagawa nila Ate May, ako sa counter si Ate sa mga additional orders and si Christian dun pa din kusina.

Understaffed kami ngayon, wala kasi si Fenech. Nag day off kasi masama daw pakiramdam nya.

Maya maya pa ay may pumasok na gwapong lalaki and agad lumapit sa counter with a dashing smile.

"Hi Kisses." Sabi nya. Alam nya name ko?

And agad agad namang napangiti ako. Then bigla nyang tinuro yung name tag ko.

Kisses naman oh. As if naman.

I immedietly tried to fix my hair and fixed my smile back to hide my disappointment. "Good morning po sir, what would you like to order?"

"I just want one of your blueberry cheesecake. Please put it in a really nice box and add a blue ribbon if that is possible." He requested.

"How much would it cost me?" He asked.

"Oh. That would be 550 pesos sir." After handing me the exact amount of money pinaupo ko na muna sya habang pineprepare pa yung order nya.

"Tian, cheesecake daw." I shouted as he peered through the kitchen door. "And hanap ka na din ng blue ribbon dyan." I asked.

"Opo madam." He said and went right back in the kitchen.

Si ate may naman yung lumapit sa akin. "Ang gwapo naman nun." Sabi nya sabay nguso dun sa lalaki na umorder ng cheesecake.

"Yan ba yung sinasabi ni Fenech na crush mo?" Usisa nya.

"Oo sya yung mahilig umorder ng Caffé Americano." Sabi ko sabay ngiti ng nakakaloko. Hay. Grabe ang dreamy ng mata nya and ang tangos ng ilong.

Swerte ng girlfriend nya for sure.

"Kisses." I snapped out of my thoughts nang tinawag ni Christian yung name ko.

"Oi puro ka daydream, ito na yung cheesecake." He said sabay abot ng isang white na box na may red na ribbon.

"White box talaga?" I asked.

"Choosy pa ba? Yan na lang yung box na meron tayo." Sabi nya sabay pahid ng flour sa pisngi ko.

"Balik na sa trabaho." Sabi ni Christian sabay talikod at balik sa kitchen.

"Kisses, parang may gusto sayo yang si Christian." Bulong ni ate May.

"Ha? Ate May naman." Sabi ko sabay tawa.

"Iabot mo na nga lang to dun kay Caffé Americano guy." Sabi ko sabay nguso sa gwapong nilalang na nakaupo sa malapit na table.

"Hay Kisses. Sige ako magaabot." Sabi nya habang lalong lumawak yung ngiti nya.

"Don't worry itatanong ko name nya para sayo." Sabi nya and bago pa ko makareact eh umalis na sya. Hala ka.

"Excuse me." I heard a voice that snapped me out of my panic.

"Oh I'm sorry sir." I said as I turned to him and attended to his needs.
