9: White Mocha

"Hey." Edward greeted me with a rather unusual smile. Madalas kasi seryoso sya and madalas nakasimangot. Is this the magic of the upcoming Christmas?

And yes regular costumer na namin sya, dahil na din ata yun sa impluwemsya sa kanya ni Marco.

Speaking of him, nalaman ko na sya yung boyfriend na tinutukoy ni Vivoree. Nakakainggit. But either way, of course I am very happy for her.

"Hello po sir." I greeted back with the same enthusiasm.

"I'll take the white mocha." He said and handed me a bill. Pero di ko alam kung bakit pero parang naglinger yung stare nya as I punched his order sa machine.

"Okay na po sir, need anything else po?" I asked and looked back at him.

"You." 

It felt as if the world stopped and the crowds silenced. Then he broke the trance I was in as he chuckled and said, "I'm sorry, it's just that you look so lovely."

And with that he looked abashed and trotted off to his usual seat.

I stood there still not over the way he chose his words and how he stared at me. Pinagtitripan nya ba ako or what?

"Kisses? You okay?" Vivoree's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah." I said and smiled at her.

"Break mo na pala, ako na dyan muna sa kaha." Sabi nya. I smiled and thanked her at pumunta sa may kitchen to fimd ate May and Christian laughing.

"Oi. Kamusta dun sa labas?" Usisa ni ate.

"Everything is good."

"Good? Eh mukhang shocked ka dyan oh, namumula ka pa. Baka ikaw di good?"

"Wala to ate." I said assuring them na okay ako, pero sa totoo lang hindi ko alam kung okay lang ba talaga ako.

"Kain na tayo." Yaya ni ate. And just as I was about to say yes Vivoree came in the kitchen and said that someone wants to talk to me.

So I went out and saw Edward sa counter.

Yung totoo?

"Sorry kung nakakaistorbo ako." Bungad nya.

"What do you need?" Tanong ko na medyo may katarayan. Kasi baka isipin nito easy to get ako.

"Can we talk outside. Its quite of a private matter kasi." He said as he eyed Vivoree.

"Tungkol saan muna?" I asked firmly.

I heard him groan but still he answered my question. "Remember the phone call you asked me about? About why I was upset?" He said as his eyebrows met.

"Oh. Yes I do remember." I said recalling the incident. "That is what this is about." He said amd gave out a sigh.

Hindi naman siguro ako sasaktan nito. And hindi rin naman siguro ako pagsasamantalahan nito. I looked at Vivoree but she just gave me a nod.

Ughh. Way to go.

"Okay. But let's just make this quick." Sabi ko sabay tanggal ng apron and lumabas ng cafè.

The chilly wind welcomed me sa labas ng cafè. Lumalamig na din pala, dahil yata malapit na magpasko.

Then my thoughts wandered away.

Kamusta na kaya si mom and dad?

"Kisses." He said as he snapped his fingers before my face. "What is the matter Ed?" Nagtaray nanaman ako.

"Calm down. I'm just going to ask a favor. Nothing big or serious." Sabi nya as he put his hands inside his pockets.

"I just want you to go out with me."

What? And even before I could shout or even react he covered my mouth and said, "Its just to show my parents that I am already moving on."

Hindi ko alam kung bakit pero parang may namatay na kung ano mang hope yung meron ako and napalitan yun ng inis.

Ano bang tingin nya sa kin? Babaeng kaladkarin?

"Hoy lalaking hilaw. Para sa kaalaman mo, hindi ako pick up girl!" Sigaw ko sa kanya.

"What? I dont really understand." Sabi nya sabay kumunot nanaman yung noo nya.

"Wala akong uulitin para sayo sa Ingles!" Dagdag ko pa sabay sampal.

"What was that for?!" He asked. Shock was totally evident on his face.

"That is a favor? I am not some kind of girl you could pay." And with that naglakad ako papasok ng cafè.

"Kisses!" He shouted habang hinahabol ako papasok. "That was not my intention." He added as he caught my arm.

"Then what was?" I asked as I faced him and shouted at him.

"I don't think of you as some girl I could pay off, I just want you to pretend for me because you seem really kind and as I said earlier you look lovely."

Hindi ko alam kung ano yung dapat kong pakinggan, yung dapat kong paniwalaan. Bakit ba ang gulo nya?

"Please stop fooling around. Just because you're handsome means that you can get anyone you want." I said as I tried to shake off his hand on my arm.

"Please just one dinner Kisses." He said pleading.

Hindi ko alam kung bakit, pero naaawa ako sa kanya and hindi ko alam kung bakit pero I felt butterflies in my stomach as he stared at me.

Sh@t. Am I attracted to him? This isn't good.

"Please. I'll give you time to think, so here is my number." He said and pulled out a card from his wallet and handed it to me.

"I won't pay you or anything. It's just a favor after all." And with that iniwan na nya ako.

Yung totoo? Bakit ba nangyayari to? Can I just have a normal love life, or even just a normal life?
