I woke up to the smell of... cookies? I shot up in my bed not caring what i was wearing and how I looked, just to find my little neice Addy sitting on my bed holding a plate of cookies. She jumps at the sudden movement which makes me laugh.
"Good morning aunty Payton!" She said with her toothless grin
I couldn't help but take the plate away and set to the side. I quickly untangled myself from my sheets pulling Addy into a big bear hug. She squirmed and yelled for me to loosen my grip or let go. She had many threats to say when I didn't only not listen but did the exact opposite of what she wanted. I finally let go of her doubling over laughing while she tried so hard to be mad. She was too cute.
She glared at me from the end of my bed,"That wasn't funny aunty. You ruined my hair now I have to get my mommy to fix it."
"Awwe baby you know I'm only joking Aunty lloves you so much I needed to hug you like that." I told her as I fake pouted for her forgiveness.
She huffed and told me to get my butt out of bed and come have breakfast before they all left. I frowned when she said they had to be at the airport in 2 hours, but did as she said.
I walked into my kitchen to see all the little children drawing pictures. I said hello to everyone in the living room giving all of them quick hugs before I headed back into the kitchen to see my mom making pancakes, a chocolate cake, and cookies. Leave it to my mom to be cooking while everyone sits around.
"Hey mom." I said as I sat at the table with the kids. They finally looked up and started to hollar that they wanted to stay with me. I couldn't help but smile at their cute pouty looks and puppy eyes. They were just too adorable.
"Hey sweetie. Look we may have to leave early. But I went out and bought you all your faveorite foods and now you don't have an empty fridge." My mom told me with the proudest look on her face.
I looked at her and nodded my head. I really didn't want them to leave.. but I know I have to let them go. I went up and hugged and kissed her cheek as a thanks. She smiled and continued to cook.
My step-dad Joey came in at that moment and had me in a bear hug faster than I thought possible.
"Joey... can't... breathe.." I gasped for air.
Joey let go laughing as I felt my face heat up. I hated when he embarrassed me.. even if it was in front of family.
Soon my mom finished cooking and sat everyone down with a plate of food. We all ate in silence.. and not the awkward shoot me now silence, it was a calming silence like we all knew we'd be together again soon. I smiled.
Everyone finished their food and my grandma and mom washed dishes, I had offered but they said they could do it because "they do it right." I rolled my eyes at them. They were both so stubborn. They all got their toys packed and travel bags packed up again.
I drove with them to the airport helping my grandma and grandpa carry their bags through everything. As the final call was made for their flight I said my farewells to everyone and all kids had given me pictures and hugs, so I wouldn't "forget" them. Like that's ever happen.
My mom and Joey were the last to board the plane. I looked at my mom and Joey they had tears in their eyes but smiles on their faces as well.
"I love you mom.. I love you Joey," I said as a tear rolled down my face." Please call me anytime."
"We will sweetie. We love you and take care of yourself okay?" They asked me.
I sniffed,"I will. I promise."
"See you later my babygirl." My mom said as her and Joey hugged and kissed me good bye.
I hate goodbyes I thought before I said my final good bye to them. I watched as they boarded the plane and I watched them leave. I turned around and walked out of the airport. I made my way to the store and bought some movies for tonight and went to do a little shopping with my birthday money. It was dark by the time I got back to my place.
I got inside my place and went to my room and went to bed. It was a great morning with my family and I had a long emotional afternoon.. but I was happy those were the best two days ever.
