Alex had just confessed he loved me. After he had said those three words the world went black.

My body was acheing, and there was this bright light in my face. My room smelt funny and I couldn't figure out why my bed felt so small and stiff. I groaned in pain when the edge of the bed sunk in I knew someone was sitting there.

"A-Alex..." Ouch it really hurt to talk. What the hell happened?

"K-Kiana?" someone asked me who was that?

"Yeah? Alex why do you sound so weird?" I asked confused.

"Because that's Jenna and Payton talking to you not me." Alex said. 

My eyes fluttered open and adjusted to the light I looked over and saw Brodie asleep in a chair and Tyler was playing on his iphone. I looked at the edge of my bed and saw Payton and Jenna sitting there tears running down their faces. I gave them a smile and went to sit up. That was a bad idea because as soon as I moved pain shot through my body. I let out another groan of pain.

"W-what happened Alex?" I asked my voice was scratchy and sounded stupid.

"Well uhm I'll let the doctor explain ok?" Alex said. 

I finally looked over at where his voice was coming from and I was shocked when I saw his upper body wrapped in bandages. I saw he had stitches and there was blood on his shoulder and collar part of his bandaging. Whoa what happened to him? 

"What the fuck did you do Alex?" I asked as pain shot through me again. Just before anyone could tell me anything the doctor walked in. 

"Hello, I'm Doctor Morgan. Glad to have you awake Ms.James." He said with a smile. I furrowed my eyebrows. What is he talking about? I have been awake Alex had just told me he loved me and I passed out? 

"Okay, Ms. James-" 

"Call me Kiana. I feel old being called Ms. James." I cut the doctor off before feeling pain in my cheek. Ugh why was I so sore? 

"Kiana do you remember anything before the accident?" Dr. Morgan asked with his eyebrows furrowed.

"Accident? What accident? There was no accident. Alex and I were going to Jenna's house. He had just told me he loved me.. when he did I kissed him and fell asleep or passed out... there wasn't no accident. What kind of sick joke is this?" I said defensivly. What the hell kind of joke is he trying to play? Telling me to rmember stuff and just bringing an accident into it was too far. 

"Kiana you and Mr. Heywood were in a hit and run, a couple nights ago. You were pretty banged up and had some internal bleeding but we got you just in time. If it weren't for your friend Mr. Hunters driving by and calling an ambulance you probably would have died in the vehicle." He said looking at me intently.

I felt the tears well up in my eyes. Me and Alex were in a hit and run? I could have died? Brodie saved my life with one phone call but it was Payton who wasn't waking up after fainting from being terrified.. how could I have had internal bleeding? So many questions were going through my head.. I didn't know what to think of this whole situation. 

"What happened to the other vehivle?" I asked my voice was breaking.

"Well acctually there were two vehicles involved. Mr. Heywood's vehicle was hit from behind and thats when you flew forward into the windshield... causeing you to have a concussion but you guys were hit again by a car speeding through the intersection. The passenger and driver in the second car were not lucky." He said with a sad look on his face. 

"W-what happened to the other people? What about the ones that hit us?" I asked him.

"The three people died, they hit your vehicle causing the driver to swerve and hit a pole but the first vehicle that caused the accident, was found by police today and sent to prison and have recieved many charges. Goes to show drinking and driving is not worth losing your life, whether it be death or prison." he stated looking at me waiting for my next question. I was so shocked. They had caught the person that could have ended my life. 

"Doctor you said three people died... how old were they?" I had to ask I couldn't let it go.. I was curious.

Dr. Morgan sighed," They were a family of four, the parent were smart to leave their baby girl at home with the nanny," my heart sank when he said they were a family..." The mother died upon her arrival at the hospital.. the father died in the ICU and their eldest daughter flew through the front window." 

"How bad were Alex and I injured?" I looked at Alex and a tear fell down my cheek, I can't believe some drunk asshole had almost killed five people... I swear, some people just did not know how to use their brains. 

"You had some internal bleeding so we had to operate, it was one of you ribs punctured your lungs pretty badly. But Alex only had a few broken ribs but he had broken his collar bone. You both had concussions, so it was normal that  you couldn't remember the accident. You both should be fine after all the healing is done, that should take a few weeks or a month. I will send the nurse in to give you and Alex your guy's pain medication." He said giving Alex and me a reassuring smile. 

I smiled in return and laid my head back down. We were going to be okay... but that babygirl won't really know her parents have died. That guy will probably spend the rest of his life in jail, and I feel sorry if that man has a family. The nurse come rushing in the room giving Alex his medication first. She finished with him and came to me. She had a bag in her hand and hooked it to my IV chord thing. She left when she was finished without saying a word or anything.

"So, Kiana how you feeling?" Jenna and Payton asked at the same time. I chuckled and looked at them, they had these relieved but still worried looks on their faces. 

"I'm fine." I lied. I couldn't tell them pain was shooting through my whole body, that'd just worry them more. 

"Brodie nice to see you awake man." Alex said laughing. 

"Yeah, hey Kiana when did you wake up?" Brodie asked me looking confused.

"I woke up an hour ago sleeping beauty." I told him in a duh tone.

He rolled his eyes at me and I stuck my tounge out at him. That kid is so weird some days. 

"Hey Kiana.. Alex, I hope you don't mind but I'm going to head home. I have been here everyday waiting for you to wake up." Payton said with a sheepish smile on her face. I smiled at her and noddeed my head she was always so caring her and Jenna both. I could always count on them when I needed them. 

"Yeah, P go home get some rest me and Kiana will probably be knocked out here soon anyway. They have us on morphine, so we gonna be high as motherfuckas." Alex said with a wide grin. He was such a smart ass. But I loved him jsut the way he was. 

"Yeah I think we should all go let them get their rest and plus we have school in the morning. Gotta get ready for grad." Jenna told everyone with a wink. She grabbed Tyler and she hugged us goodbye. Payton and Brodie both hugged us and left a few minutes later. I looked over to Alex and he was looking back at me.

"Like what you see babe?" I said with a wink.

"I don't like it.." I frowned." I love it pretty girl." Alex said sticking his tounge out at me. I chuckled he scared me there for a minute. I was starting to feel the morphine kick in. I felt so light headed, Alex wasn't kidding when he said we'd be high.. I felt so feather light but so tired.

"Alex." I whispered looking over at him.

"Hmm?" he already had his eyes shut and everything.

"I love you." I said as I watched him smile. The sharp pain stopped and I was soon fast asleep.
