Chapter VIII
Living OnNov. 2011: It's been six months since his death. Shana has slowly started to rebuild her life which, for a year, has only revolved around Dylan.
It was difficult. She was a loner before she met him. She had no friends, no family. He was her only family. She met a few people because of him during their year of dating. She still talks to his friends after his death. They comforted her, knowing he was all she's got. They made her smile. She did. After a while.
She had no choice. Life didn't give her much of a choice.
She had to go on living.
She sometimes met with Gil, Dylan's roommate and bestfriend. He was devastated, too, so they hung on to each other for strength.
She received a call from Gil that morning. There was something he wanted to give her and they decided to have coffee after work.
Gil was already sitting there when she entered the café. She gave him a shy smile as she approached to sit beside him.
"How are you?" he said.
"Better. I guess," it was an honest answer. No point in lying. They talked about mundane things for a few minutes until his voice became grave and then he held her hands.
"I have something to give you."
