Confusion

"I've had this for 5 months and I didn't know if it was important or not. I thought it was his diary. Which would not be weird since he's that kind of guy, right? He'd do his own thing. He didn't care if it's manly or not."

She nodded and stared at him with confused eyes.

"I didn't want to read it," he continued. "But I was curious. He started writing on it a few months before he died. He has always been weird. Maybe I'd understand him better if I take a look at it, I thought. When I read the first page, I knew I had to give it to you. I still don't understand, Shana. Maybe you would. Maybe this would help you, too. To deal with it. With his death."

His voice cracked a little on that last statement but she pretended she didn't notice.

He grabbed his backpack and took out a notebook. "The first page was about you."
