04 | The Truth

"...when…'' Emily started to say.

"Emily! Just tell me. It can't be that bad." I whined.

"Ok fine. It all started at the party when Nick came. I was drinking with Dylan when--- " she got interrupted by me when I yelled at her and said, '' top drinking, it's not right and you're too young anyways!''

 ''I know, I know... I was stupid for drinking. But anyways like I was saying before you interrupted me… (which made me scoff) well Nick was really upset and as I was drinking, I bumped into him and he asked me if Austin was at the party because he really needed someone to talk to and I had said no. I told him he was with you. He looked miserable and I felt guilty so I offered my ears. We were in the hallway talking and he told me some really shocking news." she said.

"Ooh! I need to know!" I screeched.

" Yeah yeah. Quit interrupting, Tor.!" Emily yelled.

"Erm. Sorry." I said softly.

"Tiffany cheated on him but that's not all!" squealed Emily. So much for a hang-over.

"Well keep going. I'm listening!"

"Besides cheating on him, she's… erm… pregnant! With the guy she was cheating on Nick with, that jock" she said.

"Oh my. So is she gonna be a teen mom or get an abortion?"

 ''Well, she told Nick before he came to the party and he told me. He wanted to treat the baby as if it were his own but she's decided to get an abortion. Her parents are paying for the whole sha-bang." she said.

"Wow. So Nick got cheated on and he was gonna put all of that shit aside for the baby and still got rejected to be the father, too?!"

"Yeah. He was so down and I did something extremely stupid. I still can't believe I did what I did." she said, sighing.

"Well come on! Spit it out "

"Ok, ok. So Nick asked me to get him a beer but I stupidly decided to take a random container full of pills that I found on the floor and I handed him one..." she said.

"Emily! How could you do something like that?!" I yelled, slapping her arm.

"I know! But like I told you! I was drunk… which made me do stupid things. So, when I handed him one, he looked at it for a moment, then whispered to me that he is sorry which made me confused. That's when he grabbed the whole container from my hand and chugged it! All of it... " she said, tears streaming down her face.

"Well, what kind of pills were they?" I asked, concerned, after giving her a tissue to wipe away the tears.

"To be honest… I have no idea. " she said, looking down.

"Let's go to the hospital to see how Nick's doing. Austin said he's in critical condition "

"Ok. I feel so bad." she said.

We ran out of the house, into the car and to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital and ran inside and to the desk and asked the secretary what room Nick Hudson was in. She told us he was currently having surgery and to go to the waiting room. We were in the waiting room where we saw Austin there pacing back and forth in the room, mumbling to himself.

"Austin! Why didn't you tell us he was having surgery?!"

"Sorry, I forgot! I was panicking and forgot all about you guys. His parents are outside the room he's having surgery in. They don't know the reason why he did what he did but they seem very understanding." said Austin.

After Emily told him everything and I mean everything, Austin looked to Emily and to me with a terrified expression and literally just screamed.

"Shush, people are staring!" I whisper/yelled-ed to him.

The three of us got tired after a few hours of waiting, it was already really late. Their parents and mines let us stay at the hospital for Nick. We didn't have any other choice but to sit there in the waiting room and wait for any news of Nick. I fell asleep on Austin's shoulder as Emily fell asleep on mines.

I woke up to the sound of Austin's sweet voice. Did I just say sweey? What?

"Oh Toriii? Wakey wakey. The doctor's here to tell us about the surgery and what's up with Nick!" he said, beginning with a whisper that ended up as a scream.

My eyes slowly opened. I rubbed my eyes and stretched.

"Ok Austin. I'm up."

I got up and walked over to the doctor with Austin, leaving Emily asleep. That night, she kept constantly waking up from nightmares because she felt guilty for what she did. So Austin and I decided to let her sleep in peace.

"What's up Doc.?" I said in a Bugs Bunny's voice. Me and Austin were chuckling. We were so excited to hear absolutely anything about Nick.

"Ok Bugs Bunny. Well I have good news and bad news. Which one would you like hear first?" said the doctor.

Me and Austin looked at each other with the same serious and concerned look and turned back to the doctor.

"The good news." we said simultaneously.

"The good news is…''

"What's the good news?!" I screamed.

"Tori. Quit interrupting." said Austin as he elbowed me.

"Ow " I said, pouting at Austin. He just chuckled and put his arm around my shoulder, and looked back to the doctor.

"The good news is that the surgery removed most of the harsh effects from Nick's system." the doctor said.

"Most? And the bad news?" Austin said with a scared expression.

"Yes, most. The bad news is that Nick will have side effects for the next 2-3 weeks since the surgery was unable to remove all the effects." the doctor said.

"What does that mean, doc,?"

"It means that even though the surgery removed the effects of ecstasy, it still has Nick in a shaky state. That is because of the overdose of the ecstasy. Nick will be back to normal soon." said the doctor.

Me and Austin asked if we could see Nick. The doctor agreed and we followed him into room 152 and then left, giving us privacy. I walked slowly to Nick and said softly, ''Hey Nick. You okay?"

After a while of looking from me to Austin back and forth, he finally stuttered the words, T-Tiffany… Baby…''

"Yeah we know everything. Its ok. Don't say anything, just close your eyes and rest." Austin said.

Nick nodded and continued his nap.

Austin looked at me and said, ''Well there's no point of going to school, it's already 10. At least we know that Nick's all right. Let's go to the hospital cafeteria and grab some breakfast, yeah?" he said with a grin.

I nodded. We walked all the way to the cafeteria, cracking jokes to each other. Austin was hilarious!

When we reached the cafeteria, Austin ate waffles, eggs, and bacon while I ate pancakes with sausage. Delicious for hospital food. We were eating with each other and having fun when Emily came in, she wasn't alone, though. Things just got serious.
