"Is it at Randy's?" I ask Liam when he invites me to a Halloween party. I have never been to a Halloween party of someone who's not my friend and I'm not planning on going. Besides, I've got a lot of homework to do this weekend, better start now and finish everything on time.

I wish I was like everyone else and ignored the fact that school is important. Since kindergarten, I would always have my 'homework' done before doing anything else, that's how my parents taught me. 'Finish your homework and you can go and play with your dolls', 'First your school work and then TV', 'Look at it this way, you get your work done and you'll have the rest of the afternoon for yourself', that were the most common phrases my parents said to me.

Mom and dad wanted me to be responsible and they achieved it, I can't do the things I want without having my work done. I'm glad I am like that, but sometimes I would like to be like my classmates, they seem so relaxed and calm, they don't give a single crap about school, and I know that's not right, but sometimes I need to chill out and enjoy life, not stressing out so much about school. I'm starting to see it's not worth it.

"No." He answers, "It's at Stephanie's."

"Who's Stephanie?" I ask. I don't recall her name.

"Laila's cousin." He says.

"Who's Laila?" I ask again. Our school is so big with lots of students and I only know like twenty people, no surprise I never know who people are talking about in their conversations. Unlike Stella, she knows everyone in school. I don't know how she does it.

"I honestly have no idea." Liam says and laughs, "But we can find out later tonight." He tells me, trying to convince me to join him.

"I appreciate the invite, but I've got things to do. I'm sorry." I sweetly say. I hate to deny but my algebra homework isn't going to get done by itself. Besides, they have parties like three times a week, I don't think this one is going to make big difference without me.

"Come on Allie, enjoy yourself for a while, it's Friday and you know you want to be here." He says with a cheeky tone, "Even your friends are here."

"Really?" Wonder why that doesn't surprise me.

"Yeah. Stella, Caleb," he pauses for a moment, "your other brunette friend."

"Scarlett." I say.

"That one." He says and laughs again, "Even boring Zach is here." Oh, I didn't know Zach liked parties too.

"Liam, thanks but-"

"Call me if you decide to come." He interrupts before I say anything else. "I'll be here waiting for you."

"Okay." I say smiling even though he isn't looking at me. I love hearing to his deep masculine voice, I don't know why but it feels like music to my ears.

"Wear a costume if you come." He tells me. "Maybe sexy little red riding hood?"

"Liam!" I say laughing, feeling my cheeks blushing. I feel I'm keeping him away from the party, he's been talking to me for several minutes.

"Just kidding." He says, "Or not."

"Allie, come downstairs please!" I hear my mom shouting. Shoot.

"I got to go, my mom's calling me." I tell Liam, "I'll let you know if I change my mind."

"Good night then." He softly says.

"Have fun." I say and hang up.

Half of me wants to go only because I want to spend time with Liam, but I dislike parties because I end deaf by the end of the night, my bloodshot eyes become very itchy and I love going to bed early, and most of the time my parents stay up until I come back because they worry too much about me.
