Ava's POV:

I took a speedy shower in hopes to not take too long getting ready. I had Caden set up to eat his breakfast while I tried to put on some makeup so I didn't look too rough. I tried to layer up enough concealer to where some of these fresh bright purple bruises that coated my face weren't as noticeable but it was useless. I sighed as I put on some mascara onto my long lashes and thought of what to wear. I decided on a big knit sweater and some leggings to keep it casual then dug in my bag to find an outfit for Cade too. I called him over after I brushed out my way hair. I helped him into his sweater that had a teddy bear face on it and jeans then combed out his hair. He looked in the mirror and smoothed down his hair. I smiled and gave him a big hug. He makes all this hardships so worth.

I shot Matty a text to say we were ready and waited for him to come knock to take us to his room. I was so excited that he actually wanted me to meet his friends just started to get nervous at what they could think. I'm sure from one look someone could piece together what I've been through and I'm sure they wouldn't want some freak around their friend like that. I shook my head trying not to let myself get too worked up. I was gathering some of Caden's crayons to bring with us so he had something to do if he got bored when I heard the same loud knock from this morning. By the time I went to go open the door, I saw Cade waving at Matty who was couching down to give him a hug. I smiled and grabbed our stuff,

"Hello there," I greeted while Matty was still distracted by talking to Caden. I heard him compliment his sweater and then look at me, "You look stunning" He smirked as he shoved his hands in his pockets. "Are you ready?"

I nodded with a smile and walked towards the door. I was about to grab Cade's hand until I realize Matty already had him in his arm most likely upon Caden's request. "Aren't you to the cutest," I laughed as I playfully pinched Matty's cheek causing him to scrunch his nose in response. He kept telling Cade how he was the cutest little kid he's ever seen and how excited the guys are to get to meet him. "We cleaned up best we could but it's a small room with four lazy boys so bear with me," He elbowed me to show he was talking to me now.

"Oh it's whatever, we don't care much." I said as he unlocked the door with one hand to his room. It opened to show some rather scruffy looking men laying around arguing over who gets to pick the movie they were going to watch. The familiar smell of weed and alcohol coated the whole room mixed with cologne I guess they sprayed to try to mask the sent. Various guitar cases were open and leaned up against the wall and next to one of the beds were a ton of crinkled paper with scratchy handwriting on them.

"Told you." Matty laughed as he set Cade down. He cleared his throat loudly to get the guys attention. They all looked over and muted the tv as they noticed me and Caden. "Boys, this is Ava and Caden, they're gonna kick it with us for a bit before we leave. Let's keep the profanities down to a minimum please," Matty announced, his voice echoed with some sort of leadership. The boys stood up and walked over to us,

"Hello there, I'm George, this is Adam and Ross!" The tallest boy with hair more wild than Matty's spoke up. The other two behind him smiled at waved at us. One of them, I think was Adam, bent down to give Cade a fist bump then went back to the tv.

"That's quite the shiner you got! What was it? A bar fight?" George joked with a laugh as he looked in awe at the bruises on face. I tried to laugh it off but it came out obviously forced. Matty gave George this 'knock it off' look as I just nodded to go along with it, "Busted, you guessed!" I joked back in hopes to ease the mood. "I'd hate to see the other girl!" He smirked making me feel better. Matty rubbed my arm almost relieved as well. I saw George bend down in front of Caden and start asking him the basic questions like how old he was and where he was from. He was almost as great with him as Matty was. I looked at Matty who was now trying to get some papers from the side of his bed I saw earlier hidden in a suitcase. When I looked back to George, Cade was already pulling out his coloring book to show off his impressive art skills.
