Chapter Twenty-Three

So, Saturday it was. It was the four of us again at ten at night and it felt pretty perfect.

Danny was his usual gay, flirty self. Nothing really changed with him and I hope nothing ever will change with him. I'd never want him to grow up.

Tanya had her hair pulled back again and looked stunning as ever. She was stuck with her sarcastic attitude and ability to care and not care at the same time. She was the same.

So was Adam. The only change was that we were holding hands. I'd never noticed how small my hands were until then, my fingers not curling around his knuckle perfectly like I imagined, but somehow, it was still perfect. A strange, crooked kind of perfect. But, it was still perfect.

I didn't look different or act different, but inside I was different. Inside I finally felt real love and real friendship and real sincerity for the people I had talked to who had it so rough and for Justin and my friends and family.

Justin's death ended up working in the end, as bad as it sounds. He was a great guy and everything, but after he was dead, I realized who I really was. And who I could be.

And who I could be with.

It was pretty amazing.

Don't get me wrong. I really do sometimes miss Justin. He was a cool guy when he wasn't cheating on his girlfriend and he was sweet. And, may I add, a really good kisser, but he was blocking me from what I really needed and what I really wanted. Finally, it was here and I loved it.

"I love you," Adam whispers to me, quiet enough for only me to hear.

"I love you, too," I whisper back and I feel our lips meet.

I'm not going to go into details about our kiss or what happened after because that doesn't really matter and it really shouldn't.
