Chapter Seven

The dim lights of the gas station were just beginning to go out for closing. I was trying to get the puffy red look out of my eyes I get from crying in case my mom is waiting at the door for me or whatever.

Suddenly, I hear a small knock on my passenger window. I slowly roll it down and notice Adam's face come into view.

I groan and lean back into my seat.

"Nice to see you, too," he says sarcastically with a playful smile.

"I just really don't want to talk right now, okay?" I snap and turn to face him.

"I just came to the gas station to get some more beer for the party," he says, holding up his fake ID.

"That is the worst fake ID I've ever seen," I say, keeping a straight face.

"You think this place even asks for one? I just carry it around with me just in case," he laughs, unlocking my car door from the outside and jumping into the passenger seat.

"That's great for you, Adam," I say, tucking my phone back in my pocket.

"I don't drink. It's just, I was the one to lose nose goes," he winks.

I laugh a little, but then go back to my straight face. "How's Mary?"

He laughs and nods, "She's up in one of the bedrooms with some guy. I don't know his name. He might go to another school or something."

"I thought this was a Bucaneers only party," I say, adjusting my mirrors.

"It was," he sighs and opens the car door. "You know, tomorrow me and a few friends are heading out to the school at like, 10, to just sit on the bleachers and talk. You up for it?"

"I'll think about it," I say, nodding a little, "Text me the details tomorrow."

"Will do." he salutes.

I sigh and as soon as Adam is out of the car, I drive off, back home.
