Chapter Nine
I didn't exactly lie about having plans. Not quite.
Adam had invited me to hang out at the school and I wasn't exactly against it. Until 10, I would probably end up just sitting in my room, listening to the mixed tape Justin had made me and repeatedly call his voicemail.
Before I can head upstairs to my room, though, I get a text from Mary.
I check my phone quickly.
Mary: awesome party last night sad u missed it some really hot guys were talking about u & btw I'm sorry 4 wat I said in the car. U know I didn't mean it I'm sorry.
I sigh and stare at the text. The hard part about it all was that I knew she wasn't really sorry. She was just saying that so I wouldn't be so mad at her.
I decide not to drag into it and just head upstairs, ignoring her text.
Soon enough, I get another text.
Adam: so ur on for 2nite? Rmbr 10pm
I sigh and look at the boring old antique clock hanging in my room. It was only noon. I still had ten hours.
Me: yea ill b there
Adam: awesome cant w8 :)
I nod and set my phone on my nightstand and sprawl across my bed, pressing play on my tape player. The first song that comes up is one he didn't tell me the name of, but it was my favorite. It had a slow tempo and there were no harmonies, but it was still really good and simple.
Some of the songs on the tape really sucked, but I still appreciated them.
I smile and take my phone, dialing his number again, but this time, someone actually picks up.
