Chapter Ten
I hang up instantly as soon as I hear Lexis's voice on the other end. I sigh and turn off the phone.
"Oh my gosh," I whisper to myself and feel myself begin to tremble again. A lump rises in my throat and I feel like I'm about to puke and cry at the same time.
Lexis had his phone. What if he never deleted our texts and she read through them? Not only had Justin left me, but he had left me to clean up his dirty work.
I was left to explain to his girlfriend that he had cheated on her, if she didn't know already.
I stare blankly at my vacant phone screen.
It's crazy how three little words can change you. For better or worse. At first, it was great. It felt like I was on top of the world.
Now, it felt like the world had turned tables and was crashing down on me.
I suddenly feel like I'm about to puke and I almost do, but I hold it back because I really wasn't in the mood for it.
Instead, I just cry for a little.
Suddenly, the mixed tape stops. I knew it wasn't the end because I had listened to it plenty of times to know when it ends or starts.
Instead of figuring out what happened, I fall asleep sprawled across my bed. It just felt good to finally have my mind blank.
