Chapter One

Justin's death took everyone by surprise. He was a great guy; handsome, kind, funny. He had every trait a guy would want.

But he loved me of all people.

He had a girlfriend and I can't imagine how crushed she would be, but I hadn't seen her since Monday. It was later during the week when the teachers broke the news.

It was a normal Friday. I hadn't seen Justin or Lexis, his girlfriend, since last week. It seemed a bit weird to me that both of them had suddenly disappeared and Justin wasn't answering any of my texts. It was unusual, but it never really bothered me.

Some jocks passed by me, laughing and kind of bouncing in their step. One of the more attractive ones elbows me lightly and spins around to face me.

"Hey, Angel. You'll be at the party tonight, right?" he asks, smirking a bit and lifting his eyebrows a bit.

"Of course. Wouldn't miss it for the world," I say and wink at him, strutting away towards the commons to meet up with my friends.

Walking in from the winter wind of freezing Michigan is Mary, her hair pulled back to reveal her strangely beautiful face. Most girls are pretty in the normal pretty way. Mary was different. Yes, she had acne and a small deformation in her nose, but she was easily considered gorgeous to society.

Normally, Mary had her gorgeous, thick blonde hair down, but today it was pulled back, and personally, I preferred that look on her. It suited her well.

When she spots me, she waves excitedly and walks right over to me, brushing a bit of wet snow out of her hair.

"Hey!" she squeaks and embraces me in a tight hug.

I hug her back, but quickly pull away. I'm not really the huggy type.

"You're going to the party, right?" she asks, wiping a bit of her red lipstick off the corner of her mouth.

"Yeah." I say, distractedly looking at a group of teachers discussing something frantically.

Mary turns around to see what I'm staring at and smiles a bit.

"The copier probably broke or something like that," she says, laughing a little.

"Yeah," I say, breaking my gaze and smiling at Mary.

"So, the math test is Monday and I really need help with that class, so my mom is freaking out about my curfew. I'm worried she'll change it to nine tonight so I don't even know if I'll show up." she says, wiping at the same corner of her mouth again.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I really hope you can make it, though." I say as the warning bell rings.

Quickly, I trot off towards my first hour, which happened to be English. It was one of my favorite classes besides choir, mostly because of the teacher, but partially because of the subject. I was pretty good at both and didn't really have to study for either.

"Hey," Adam greets me.

I smile and nod politely in his direction. He was attractive and all, but I didn't really like him that way. It was a long story that I don't really want to bore you with.

Quickly, I take my seat and open my book to the page on the board. Unlike most of the kids in the class, I actually read the pages assigned. It wasn't like I had anyone to talk to anyways. Most of the kids sitting by me were geeks or sluts and I didn't exactly fit in with those two groups, so I just read the boring black and white pages. It's not like I paid attention to what I was reading, it just gave me something to do.

I was just reading something about Shakespeare when my teacher walked in and smiled weakly at the class.

"Hello, class. I have an announcement to make and I'm sure some of you won't take it very well," she says, erasing the page numbers from the dry erase board.

At this point, I'm slowly closing my book, casting glances at Adam who's looking at me, confused.

"Your classmate, Justin Blake, has committed suicide."
