They say breaking up is a painful thing, but with my circumstances, I'm honestly anxious about it. I am super scared to find out how he's going to react. What if he's angry? What if he's happy? What if he hurts me? The possibilities are limitless.

I pace at the front door waiting for noon to arrive. It's eleven fifty-six and he should be getting here any second. What am I going to say?

My heart rate begins to soar as I see my future ex-boyfriend pull up in his truck. I watch as his truck ceases to vibrate and he comes around the car, heading toward my front door.

“You've got this, Sammy,” Jace reassures me from the top of the stairs. He and Kasen are in his room listening in case something bad happens and as soon as Jace has said these words, he is back in his room.

I nearly jump out of my skin when the doorbell rings. I bite my lip roughly and go to the door.

“Hello, gorgeous,” he says as soon as it's open and he envelopes me in a massive hug. I lightly pat his back and step away from him. This is going to be so hard.

“Hi,” I squeak anxiously. “Come on in, Jake.”

“What's the plan for today?” he asks me as I walk him to the couch. The closer to Jace, the better.

“I was actually hoping we could talk, if that's okay.”

“Of course it's okay,” he says, taking a seat on the couch. He pulls me on the couch with him and my face is pulled against his as he kisses me. When I realize what he's doing, I quickly pull away and I blush a lot. He begins to pout and sighs.

“Babe, what is it? Why are you acting so different?” he asks.

“We need to break up,” I say, looking down at my legs sadly.

“Wait,” he asks, his eyes widening, “what?”

“You and me are over, starting now,” I say and peek up at his face. He looks extremely hurt, as was expected, but he doesn't look too angry yet, which gives me a little relief.

“Baby, what did I do?” he asks.

“Don't play dumb with me,” I snap. “If you really wanted me, maybe you should have dated me for the right reasons.”

“What are you saying?” Jake gasps. “Babe, come on. What's gotten into you?”

“Jace's party last night wasn't very helpful for you,” I say. “Calvin told me everything before he molested me.”

Now he's angry.

“Calvin did what?” he growls.

“It doesn't matter anymore,” I shrug. “I-”

“Is that why your face is a little bit swollen?” he interrupts. I pout and sigh.

“What matter is that you're dating me because Cody ordered you to do it.”

“He told you that?” he shrieks. “Ugh, secret-”

“So it's true,” I say painfully.

“Babe, I never said-”

“I'm Sam now and no worries, you didn't need to. Your reaction said it all.”

“But ba-...Sam, I care about you.”

“Then why would you hurt me like this. You were my first kiss, my first boyfriend, and now look at what happened.”

“Do you think I asked to hurt you, Sam?” he asks angrily.

“How should I know?” I say nervously.

“Do you know what kind of obligation I'm under?” he says as if he didn't even hear what I said.

“What are you saying?” I gasp. He looks at me with his eyes popping out and bites his lip, looking very upset.

“Please do not leave me. Your brother is making you do this, isn't he?”

“Do not bring Jace into this,” I growl. Now I'm the angry one.

“Oh, yeah?” he snaps. “Your stupid brother seems to-”

“What crap are you saying about me?”

Oh shoot.

“Well look who's come to defend themselves,” Jake says furiously.

“I always knew you were a dirty little scoundrel. It's really low of you to use my sister like that.”

“It wasn't my choice. I was given orders and...,” he trails off, realizing he'd surely spilt the news now.

“Orders?” Jace asks in surprise. “So it is true.”

“Why would you care?”

“Tell me what Cody and Christian are doing. Tell me and we will help you.”

“I...I can't. It's not my business.”

“It clearly is, now either spill or get out of my house and never return.”

Jake sighs angrily and stands up. “Your wish is my command, McFarland.”

“Deal. If I ever see you so little as talking to Sam, you'll suffer the wrath of me and my gang.”

“You're really okay wit him doing this to you, Sam?” Jake asks in disgust. “You're okay with him constricting you and controlling you?”

“Jake, I-”

“Out,” Jace orders, pointing to the door. Jake nods, very angered and starts stomping out the door like a little girl. He slams the door behind him and all the picture frames on the wall shudder in response. I bite my lip, trying not to cry.

Now I'm feeling the emotions of a breakup.
