The unexpected

Zircon watched as Connie bunny hopped off of the balcony with Roses sword and smiled behind her helmet. "Come at me you weaklings!" Connie said swinging at the gems and destroying them. "Steven!" Amethyst said gaining his attention. Zircon smiled as she passed by the two fusing and let out a small giggle as she heard. "Smokey Quartz here!" She slashed through a few enemies and looked up at Yellow Diamond with anger filling in her chest again. She stopped for a second and looked back as she heard. "ah, my dear Smokey Quartz! How are you my darling?" Zircon watched as Sardonyx helped Smokey bash enemies away then looked back at the far away Diamonds as the enemies swarmed her. "Give it your all." She gripped onto her scythe tighter and swung as they ran towards her eliminating all of them. She held her hand out and grabbed onto Connie as she jumped up and attached a chain to her armor throwing her at enemies and pulling her back.

   "Ready Connie?" "Ready!" Zircon held on with two hands and started swinging Connie around. Connie swung the sword as she flew by slicing threw them. She felt Zircon quickly yank her back and stuck the sword in the ground to stop herself. "Why did you pull me back!?" She said looking at Zircon. She saw the fear in her face and slowly looked at two tall similar gems with long sharp blades. "Zircon?" Zircon yanked her back again as one of the gems swung at Connie making a large scratch on her armor. "You can't fight them they're to strong." Zircon flung Connie past the two tall gems and gave her a thumbs up. "If you go in the ship and find a gem stabilizer you can connect it to Roses sword so your attacks are stronger!!" Connie nodded her head and ran towards the ship not looking back as Zircon yelled out.

    "Steven said it was yellow last time he saw one.." Connie evaded all of the guarding gems and headed inside the ship looking around as best as she could. "Where would I find I gem stabilizer?" She said kind of loud attracting the attention of a large bodied gem. "How did you get in here!?" She looked at the gem and held out Roses sword with one hand. She jumped up and did a flip over the gem as it punched into the ships floor and swung down slicing its arm. "Why you little!" It grabbed her and held her in the air allowing her to see around the ship. "There's one!" It threw her down and watched as she landed on her feet flipping back towards the stabilizer. "You throw like a human." She said connecting the stabilizer to Roses sword with a laugh at her insult. "Bring it on!" It said running at her angry. She stuck it in the chest and watched as the lines spread and made it go up in smoke.

   "Now I can help Zircon!" She ran out cutting through the enemies taking out more than usual and saw Zircon struggling with the two tall gems. "I'm back!!" Connie said as she threw the sword at one of the gems making it poof into smoke. "Sister!" The other one said not paying attention to Zircon anymore. "You!!" Connie blocked the sword and watched as it melted when it touched her sword. "How!?" "Roses sword and a stabilizer can get you far." Zircon said distracting the gem she went to say something but got cut off as Connie stabbed through her. "How could you betray the council Zircon...?" Zircon watched as she went into smoke and shook her head. "Because you all were destroying something innocent for nothing." Zircon quickly looked up and pushed Connie's head down into the ground and flipped over a bright yellow sword.

   "What was that for?" "Sorry, it was either see you get decapitated or push you in the ground." Connie watched as Yellow Diamond walked their way and quickly stood up. "She doesn't look to happy..." "She never does." Zircon summoned another scythe with old wraps around the wooden like handle, she took her helmet off and put her hair in a ponytail. "Surrender Zircon!" Connie blocked her sword with Roses sword and flew back a bit. "She's not using her hands!" "Yea...I hate that she can just use some magnetic field and swing around without really moving." Zircon threw the old looking scythe and stuck Yellow Diamond deep in the shoulder. "Augh!!" She said disgusted. "You're mine!" Zircon said letting an old rusty chain surround her arms and hands. "What are you doing?" "Making her vulnerable." Zircon ran towards her and jumped up attaching the chain to the end. She summoned a small scythe and threw it deep in the ground stopping Yellow Diamonds moves.

    "Zircon!" Zircon looked at Connie and watched as she struggled to keep Blue Diamond from crushing her with her mace. "Sit here." She jumped down and ran as fast as she could to Connie sliding under the mace and moving her as Blue Diamond put more power into it crushing the ground underneath. "Thanks." Zircon looked at the two and stood there looking up at them full of sorrow. "Why have we let it come to this?" She said walking closer to them. "We didn't do a thing...we did this all for OUR colonies that WE built and you decided to betray us!" Yellow Diamond said holding her shoulder. "Because for once I see that there is other life on other planets! Yea earth might have its ups and downs but that doesn't mean we should destroy it just for another Colony." "This was Pink Diamonds place-" "PINK DIAMOND IS GONE!!" Zircon said cutting Blue Diamond off. "She's shattered and gone and we have to deal with it." "Its hard to just deal with it Zirconia." "I miss her too! And its no help that you, the one who decided to create me and call me sister is fighting against me and not with me." "You're nothing but a replacement." Yellow Diamond said angrily.

    "This replacement will destroy you!" Zircon froze in place as Yellow Diamonds sword stuck her in the stomach. "Yellow Diamond!" "I didn't hit an important spot.." Yellow Diamond removed the scythe and stood up not noticing Connie climb on her. "This is for Zircon!" Connie stabbed behind her shoulder making her yell out in pain. "Why you..!!!" Yellow Diamond grabbed her and took Roses sword. "This is the pathetic thing is that Rose called a sword?" She threw Connie into rocks then chucked Roses Sword at Connie making it stab into her side. "Connie!?" Zircon tried moving but got pinned down by Yellow Diamonds other sword. "Connie!" She looked back and saw the others slightly getting overpowered by their enimes. Connie looked at the sword and saw as it pierced through the armor and cut into her side. "Ugh.." She sat there trying to move it but jumped back from the pain. "Your army is weak Zircon, you're nothing now." Zircon sat there and put her head down.

"I'll call them off if you surrender."

   Blue Diamond said to her. "What!? Blue-!" Blue Diamond put her hand up and hushed Yellow Diamonds anger. She lifted Zircons head up with her finger and looked her in the eyes. "Save them now and you will not feel any failure Zirconia." Zircon looked at the four fighting then back at were Connie was. "You can't just give up...you can't just surrender after so much!" Zircon watched as Connie held her side and slowly made her way over to the three. "Look at you Connie...and look at them...I've failed to keep even you safe.." Zircon looked back at the Diamonds and closed her eyes. "I surrender." Blue Diamond stood up tall snapping​ her fingers making the rest of the gems freeze and stop in place. "They stopped?" Steven looked up and saw Blue Diamond grab Zircon and Connie hanging onto her hand. "Zircon!?" He ran towards them and let the gems follow behind. "Zircon please you can't just-" Connie took the helmet off letting the armor retract back. "You can't just give up! You've worked so hard to keep us safe and we want to give that back to you! Please don't, just leave they'll shatter you for the things you've done and you know it!!" Connie's face turned red as she cried and held on with all her might.

    "I'm doing this so I can protect not just you guys, but everyone you and Steven care about, oh! And Connie if it makes you feel better the person I chose was-" Connie slipped out of Zircons hand and rushed towards the ground at a fast pace. Connie watched as something black followed her and realized it was the helmet, she grabbed it and put it on letting the armor surround her before she crashed into the ground. "Connie!" Steven said sliding by her side. "Are you OK!?" Connie ignored his worry and stared at Zircon. "I didn't get to hear her..." "P-pearl she's bleeding!!" "What!?" Pearl rushed over to her and took the helmet off so she could see her wounds. "Connie you have a huge gash on your side! And you're bleeding pretty badly..how are you still sitting up like this?" "Adrenaline kicked in again when I fell." Everyone watched as the remaining gems ran past them into the ships and watched as the ships took off into the sky disappearing for good. Steven hugged Connie with a face full of tears.

    "I'm so sorry I wasn't there!" "No...it's OK Steven." Connie said looking at him with a smile. "Zircon helped through most of it.." "They took Zircon.." Pearl said holding her hands to her chest looking up at the sky. "She went willingly." Pearl looked at Connie then down at the cracked sand. "C-come on Connie let's go get that wound healed up." Pearl picked her up bridal style and held her close. "At least she kept you safe from the Diamonds.." She looked at Pearl when she heard the shake in her voice then held onto her tighter. "She kept us all safe."
