Why Do We Fall

Chapter 12

  Octavia's POV
It's been a month now and everything's going fine between me and Derek. I can tell Lexa and Clarke like each but I don't think they've admitted it yet.

"Baby you up?" Derek said as he walk in the tent.

"Yup" I reply as I put away a small carving Derek made.

"I'm looking for the one you call Derek." A voice said from outside the little wall we had made a few days ago.

I seen Derek tense up when he heard that voice. His eyes looked horrified as if he remember what happened to him.

"DON'T let them take me" Derek says as his eyes start to water.

"Don't worry I won't" I reply but the truth is I'm scared to death for him.

Derek's POV

When I heard Cage's voice I tensed up and I was filled with fear like the fear I felt when we were heading toward earth. Then everything started to comeback to me the memories the thoughts everything it was overwhelming me.

"You okay?" I hear Octavia say to me as she shakes me out of my thoughts.

"No I'm remembering everything I remember everything I did and the people I killed I remember everything" I reply back as I'm still shaken from the things I did to those people.

"I hate myself right now Octavia. I killed people that didn't harm me, I killed the people from the Ark. I hate myself so much." I add.

"Look that wasn't you, you are a caring person you wouldn't hurt anyone." Octavia replies back to me as she hugs me.

I let the guilt sink deep into my mind and it kills me. I wish I've never did any of those and things it hurts me.

"Derek you mean so much to me" Octavia says as I feel Octavia's tears fall on my shoulder.

"I don't mean any harm!" Cage yells out to us.

"I'm sorry but you have to leave he's not well" Bellamy said loudly to Cage. 

I hear Octavia sigh of relief when she heard Bellamy dismiss Cage. I also felt relieved when Bellamy said that to Cage I felt like the weight on my shoulders had been lifted off and been disposed of.

"Alright I understand Bellamy" Cage replied.

"Okay see you Cage" Bellamy says back to Cage.

Clarke's POV

When I heard this man say my brothers name I felt my stomach sink. I felt scared all over again like when I was captured by the grounders in the early days of us landing.

"God damn it, Lexa go check on Derek" I said as I look around for a gun.

Lexa's rushes out of the tent to Derek's and Octavia's tent. I find my gun under the clothing on the tent floor. Lexa was inside of Derek's tent and I entered. When I entered I seen Octavia and Derek hugging but what bothered me was that my brother was spaced out.

Octavia was crying because I'm guessing she was afraid they'd take him. I was afraid for him too but I knew he'd survive what ever was thrown at him. Bellamy entered the tent a few seconds after we did and he waited for them to finish hugging.

"He was here Derek" Bellamy says bluntly to Derek when Octavia and Derek stop hugging,

"I know I remember every horrible thing I've done, I..I..don't know what to do anymore" my brother replies back as he stares blankly into space again.

"Do you remember me?" Lexa questions Derek.

"No I don't and I got a feeling inside of my head that I don't want to either." Derek said to Lexa.

"Okay uh sorry for asking I guess" Lexa replied back.

"Uh what happened while I was gone?" My mom says to us all.

"Well uh Derek hit his hit and he forgot some memories but he regained them."

"He's okay right? Does he have brain damage?" My mom says to me.

"No he's fine now mom."

"Derek you okay hon'?" My mother questions Derek.

"Fine" he replies back coldly.

"Can you all please leave?" Octavia says to us.

We all agreed to leave and surprisingly Bellamy left without questioning anything. I walk down toward the beach line where Lexa was sitting and suddenly I got the urge to say something I'll regret.

Octavia's POV

After what happened yesterday with that man named Cage coming here it got tense. Everyone is on high alert incase they are scouting us. I caught Derek staring into the night sky he looked zoned out. He was deep inside of his mind I'm guessing because those things he did while he was with Lexa was not him.

I never thought of Derek as a bad person he was always put under situations where he had control and didn't have control. He wasn't the best person but he'd do anything to protect us like this deal he made with the Mountain men.

"Hey Octavia" I hear Derek say to me.

"Hi" I reply back smiling at him.

"Wanna go swimming?" He asks with a smirk on his face.

"Um...of course" I say as I sprint as fast as I could out of the tent.

"I'll get there first" Derek says sprinting as he passes me.

I think to my self jesus he's fast. I can't believe he passed I wish I was as fast as he his. I look at him running and taking off his shirt then he stops to take off his pants. I stop to undress and I follow him into the water.

"Haha I told you I'd be here first" Derek said to me before he dove into the water.

"Whatever" I say back when he resurfaced.

I see Lexa and Clarke looking over at us from the sand. They look genuinely happy and whatnot but Lexa seems to be staring at us harder then Clarke is.

I look at Derek and he looms back at me I started to stare into his hypnotizing eyes. As he was about to lean in for a kiss he throws me into the water.

"Derek! You are gonna pay!" I yell to Derek.

"Catch me if you can" he replies back as he dives under the water.

I scan the water to see where he was. I look to my left nothing, I look to my right and yet again I found nothing. I look behind me and to my surprise Derek lifts me off my feet. Then places me back down in the water.

I lean in to kiss him and he stares at me like I'm his world. That stare he is showing me is when he was deeply in love with Lexa. I give him the exact same stare because I now know I love Derek.
