Why Do We Fall

Chapter 18

Derek's POV

Time skip two months...

"Alright time to attack, Octavia and I will attack from the north, Lexa and Clark from the west, Bellamy and Kane from the east, and the other 1000 from the south. Each of us will have at least 200-500 soldiers with us except the south since that's where we're attacking from mainly."

"Okay Derek let's do this." Lexa said before she kissed me on the cheek.

"I love you." I say before Lexa's leaves.

We just arrived north of the TriKru settlement. I can see the warriors in the trees in front of us, Octavia and I snuck up on the man as quietly as possible. Octavia took him down but kicking him in the back of his knee and I stabbed my knife into his throat and his blood went all over my face and knife.

We press forward sneaking up until Bellamy shoots the flare up into the sky. We 202 people including Octavia and I arrive at our point and now we're waiting for the flare, we all wait patiently for the flare to be shot up into the sky. I felt nervous almost as if I'll lose someone I just gotta shake it off.

The flare was just shot up and now we're all charging in at the TriKru base, I can see the enemies charging at us I felt scared for everyone.

I swing my sword up and I slice this guys arm off, I pivot a 180 degrees and I see a bigger warrior charging at me and I slide to avoid him using his shoulder charging me. He's back on to me and I stick my sword through his back and he screams as I rotate my sword inside of his back.

He's dead and I see Roan the leader of this rebellion, I take the axe off of my back and I throw it at Roan but it misses him and hits the tree next to him. He quickly sprints toward me and I start to run at him. Our swords meet and make a loud sound from the metal colliding together.

And then I swung my sword away from his and kicked him down on to the ground. He fell to the ground and as he landed he kicked my right leg which caused me to fall to my knees. I'm on my knees and Roan is up on his feet, I stand up and take out my other sword so now I have dual weapons.

I take a deep breathe and everything around me goes blank I'm now. As I swing my sword I can hear other people fighting, the loud sounds, the yelling, the screams of pain, and bodies dropping. Before I know it I'm kicked down and a grounder has a big hammer and he swings it down at me and I roll away to my right to avoid being hurt.

Then I get up and I see an archer about 15 yards away from Octavia. When the archer shoots at Octavia I pull her into my chest and I feel the arrow go deep into my back. I shudder and I feel relieved when Octavia isn't hurt, I gently push her head out of the hug I put her in when the archer shot.

Her head was in my by shoulder and she looks up at me.

A month earlier...

I just finished shaving and now time to go to the barber on level three. As I turn left I see Octavia training in the training room, she's fighting two men and she's winning. I whistle loudly and enter the room and cheer for Octavia for a bit when I entered it put a smile on her face, I told Octavia I was leaving and as I did she called out "Bye."

The barber is quite nice I'm assuming to cut hair for free, well it's not like we have a currency here but Monty just left the barbers and he had a nice cut. After I cut my hair cut and it's medium length and it suits me great.

Lexa and I were arguing so I left and let her have her space and we're arguing over the little things. I had to work outside of the bunker to make traps everywhere because the grounders found out where we stay. I'm my parents second in command, I could easily take over this place and claim myself the leader but the people running this place are my parents and my uncle John.

"The commander is coming be quiet." People whisper as I enter the army quarters.

"You move out in 01500 hours." I yell out to the soldiers.

In someways I did take over somethings usually what I say goes.

Present time...

I look up from Octavia and I see Lexa falling down. Blood everywhere, her body motionless. I forget about Octavia and I run toward Lexa, when I arrive there's a hole in her head and I see a soldier standing frozen above me.

Lexa's head is on my lap and I can feel the tears coming down from my face. My tears are on Lexa's face and I gently put her head back on the ground. I stand up with a rock in hand and I feel my anger coming out and I punch the soldier and he's on the ground.

I can hear the horn blow for the grounders to retreat and they do.

The rock in my hand I put it in both of my hands and I start to beat his face in. I can hear the skull breaking with each hit, I lose myself. Everyone around me is watching I can tell I can practically feel the eyes on me.

His brains are on my face and hands, blood everywhere. I stop and fall on to my knees and I just cry. I throw my weapons away, Lexa's body is there motionless and full of blood.

"Please...please don't go somewhere I can't follow you."

"Derek c'mon we have to go." Bellamy said as he gently placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Go on, I'll be up there in a minute."

"C'mon Derek, we can't lose you too we need to be strong, you're gonna have to lead us or Clarke and I will." Bellamy spoke. I just nod slowly.

I pick up Lexa's body and I carry it as we walk back to the bunker. When we arrive and get into it I can see the faces of sorrow and pity, I don't want that I just want Lexa to come back.

I can see my mom and dad walking toward me with tears on their faces as well. The morgue people come and take her body and I reluctantly give the body to them. I leave the room as soon as I gave them the body because right now I just want to see my daughters, I arrive and I dismiss the baby sitter.

I go to my daughters and they're fast asleep, they both look so much like they're mother. I go and lie down with them and I slowly start to cry myself to sleep.

The world is cruel now, I'll do whatever I have to do in order to keep Alex and Sarah alive no matter what.
