Why Do We Fall

Chapter 17

Derek's POV

"Excuse me?" I politely ask the women.

"Oh dear, I'm your real mother I'm Jessica Monroe." The small women said. The small women was reaching for my cheek but quickly avoided her hand and I just looked at her confused.

"My mother? My mother left me on the Ark, and I haven't seen her since."

"Honey it's me, your mother do you remember me leaving you at Abby's door?"

I looked confusedly at the small old women "You? So you're the brown haired women that left me at the age of five?"

"Well I do regret leaving you but it was for the best, your dad and I were to be sent to the ground with or without you. We decided we'd give you to my best friend Abby, Abby isn't here yet is she?"

"No, so that's the reason why you left me? I won't hold a grudge against you but on one condition..."

"What's that?"

"Meet my children, your grandchildren that's all I'll ask."

"Alex and Sarah? Kane told me about them but I didn't want to see them without you being there so it can kind of be like a family reunion between your father and I. Two hours ago we heard you were back from death, so we waited for you to finish up whatever you were doing. We only found out four hours ago that you were dead, since you were our son and your father and I are the leaders of this mountain we decided to let you in."

"Let's get a coffee and talk this over." I suggest.

"Sure."

Octavia's POV

12 hours earlier...

I rode into camp on my horse and all I see is flames. I see my tent burning along with the others, but what catches my eye is Clarke running away with the other into the woods with Derek's daughter, there's two dead bodies by the spot she was running from. I turn around because I heard a loud smack, when I pivot I see Derek.

His face was full of blood the blood was pouring out of his mouth. I seen him go for his gun but he's disoriented clearly to me the gun was in the centre in front of him but he kept going left to right. I pivot toward a man sprinting at me with a sword and I quickly dodge the attack, shortly after I dodge the attack I kill him. 

After I kill the man on top of Derek I see Derek lying there motionless, I run over as fast as I could but when I get there I see his eyes go from being full of life to dead within seconds. I panic at first because the man I love is dead right now, l feel my eyes tear up but I remember he has two daughters and someone else is here.

  I get him up onto Helios and I remember hearing there was a bunker East. I think Abby or Kane told us to go there if something bad happens, I'm guessing they just got communication with them a few weeks or months ago to form a bond like that. I ride Helios for a good three hours and I've arrived at this bunker inside of a mountain, it reminds me of the mountain men one.

I arrive there "OPEN THE DAMN DOOR! PLEASE!" I desperately yell. I bang on the big metal door with my fist then, I start to throw rocks or anything that was hard enough to make a loud bang. I go over to the big pine tree and slump down the tree. "Open...the door please...I can't lose him."

I go over to his body and I carefully take him off, as soon as I take him off of Helios I walk over toward the same tree and sit down on the ground. Derek's hair and facial hair is long he needs to cut it but now he won't have the chance too. Derek's head is on my lap and I feel just tired from losing people, just before I lay my head back onto the tree I hear a loud sound.

I quickly turn my head to the right and the door is opening, I get up and run toward the people coming out and there's a man and woman. The male has blue eyes and the female has brown eyes, they both rush over toward me and the just stare at me with a shocked expression.

My tears are falling into Derek's face while the two people just look at us. "Is...that Derek?" The female said as she gazed down at the lifeless body on my lap.

"Yes, help him please...help him, he's all I got."

The two people helped me up and guided me into the bunker.

Present time...

Derek, I just seen him I just said you're welcome to him. I hope one day he finds out that I brought him here just one day I hope he does. I go left and down a long straight hallway and turn right into the lounge where the rest of us are.

"We found out who brought him here, Octavia what you did today was...I don't know but thank you." Clarke said before wiping her tears away.

"You're welcome, I wouldn't let him die anyway" I quietly said the last few words after I said you're welcome.

After being in the lounge talking to everyone we all left after about three to two hours of speaking to one another after all it's now 12:39 am. I tiredly make my way through the maze and make into my room which they gave me in that three to two hour time limit.

I take off my clothes and hop into the shower, I feel so much better as I washed my hair and cleaned my body. I get out of the shower and dry myself with a tan towel, Derek he comes to my mind because he was technically dead and I couldn't save him right away.

My mind, my head, my heart all hurts knowing if I didn't come here Derek would be dead. I throw my clothes on the ground and I throw my boots at the wall which makes a hole. The glass on the table in the kitchen I throw that at the wall and it sends glass everywhere, I go into the room I was given I curl up in a ball and cry.
