I decided to go out that Saturday night, hoping that I would be able to distract myself. My clothing choice, for once, was not exactly revealing, just simple and not asking for trouble.
I walked to the nightclub with my head lower than usual. I wasn't the same me as I was four weeks ago. I had changed, but I was still ready for a good time.
This time when I walked into the club, everyone stared, not because I was the hottest looking chick but because I had changed, and they could all tell. The air smelt filthy, I forgot how horrid this place was when you were sober. I could see at least twenty girls' butts which made me want to puke, even though I was one of them only a month ago. I saw guys hitting on girls, slapping their asses and trying to touch them whilst kissing. I knew Connor was never like that.
I walked around to find someone I knew but I didn't have to look long, people were talking to me left, right and centre.
"Aisha, hey, haven't seen you in ages."
"Aishaaaa my girl what's going on?"
"Hey darl, where you been?"
I smiled politely, said hi and kept moving. I was getting sick of so many questions. They all thought it was because of my Dad that I had changed, but honestly, it was long before that. I decided to get over my moping and get drunk, because that would be the only way to enjoy it. So I took the next drink that was handed to me, and almost every drink after. Soon I was dancing with people I'd probably met but didn't remember, talking to strangers ar=bout my life problems and getting free drinks off every second guy.
I didn't remember any details of this night, but was told over the next week, so here is what happened, second hand.
After dancing so hard that I had to take my shoes off, I drunkenly made my way to the toilets. Threw up everywhere, all over the floor, pouted at a couple making out and made my way back to the action. I was so drunk that I was telling everyone who would listen, how boring Connor was and how he didn't want to have sex just yet and I was so sick of him.
I got nods of agreement from plenty of men saying they would never do that to me. They told me why didn't I just leave him? Of course being so drunk, I was like hell yeah. So, I challenged another guy to see how many people we could kiss that night, if I won, he would take me home, if he won, he would get a free drink from me.
It was on, the race was on. I kissed guy after guy after guy. I was at a disadvantage though because there were less guys than girls. I think I nearly kissed every guy in the venue, whether they liked it or not.
It got to two am and people were starting to head home. We tallied how many people we'd kissed and he had kissed one more than me. I scanned the place, remembering I'd kissed every single guy. Then one of his mates pointed at the bartender. I smiled and walked over confidently.
"Hey hottie. You see the deal is, I kiss you and I win the game me and my friend are playing and he'll take me home."
"Sorry ma'am, can't fraternise with the public."
I put on my best puppy face. "But please. If I don't go home with him, I'll have no one to take me home."
He smiled. "What, you and your boyfriend broken up already?"
I looked at him with astonishment. "You. Traitor. You're that cop."
"Sure am."
"Jake. Mmmm."
"Well, it seems as if you have no one to go home with tonight then miss."
I pouted. "Oi! Mate, I give up, I'll shout you that drink."
At four am, the club was closing, and here I was, drunk as hell, sitting on a bar stool, singing to myself and continuing to throw up everywhere.
"Aisha, oi." Came a whisper.
"What do you want now? My parents marriage certificate?" My words were slurred and slow.
"I wanna take you home."
"No fraternising with the public." I repeated but half the pace of what he spoke.
"Come on, if they don't know, then it can't hurt them."
"Okay, okay but not a word....puh-lease."
"Come on." He led me out the back to his small car. The fresh air made me puke again. "Wait here a moment." Less than ten minutes later he came rushing out, jumped in the car and sped off.
The whole way home I told him all about Connor. He nodded and said shhhhh when it was appropriate. He led me into the house, laid me down on the bed and got undressed.
I threw off my dress and said, "Kiss me."
