That night, I was surprised to not have been disturbed. I got up to the sound of shouting. "Natsu! You're going to set the place on fire!" Jellal cried as I walked out, in a top and baggy sweat pants Natsu gave me yesterday. I was hesistant at first, but my clothes weren't exactly comfortable to sleep in. "I don't know how to cook! Jellal, please help me." Natsu begs on his knees, praying. "Get off the floor, dumb ass." Gray hit him on the head. "If you don't calm down, she'll wake up." Gray grumbled, crossing his arms as he sat at the small, circular dining table. "She already is." Gajeel pointed to me, also sitting at the dining table and drinking a cup of coffee. Everyone looked over to me. I probably looked a mess, and I also wasn't a morning person, so that made it worse. "Lucy, why are your eyes red?" Natsu stepped up. I had cried myself to sleep last night, thinking about all he tough decisions I had to make. I was a little surprised he noticed it. "Oh yeah, your eyes are red. Do you have allergies or something?" Jellal went to the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. "Oh no, I had something in my eye, so I was rubbing them. No biggie." I put on a fake smile, something I'll have to be doing a lot for the next couple of weeks.
Suddenly, my phone, which I had put in the pant pocket, started ringing. I quickly answered it. "Is this Lucy Heartfilia?" A voice spoke up on the other side. "This is she." I replied. "I have called regarding your job application to the Magnolia Law firm. The receptionist job." Said the man. "Oh yes. Of course."I smiled, turning away from the boys. "I'm afraid we have chosen someone else. Someone with your... back ground, isn't the best for the company." He said. "What do you mean?" I was a bit taken aback, I've never done anything illegal. "Your family?" The man seemed just as confused as I did. That bastard called in?! I screamed in my head. "R-Right. Um, thank you for calling." I quickly hang up.
I breathed through my anger, it almost bubbling over as I slipped my phone back in the pocket. "Luce? You okay?" Natsu spoke up, but I wasn't listening. "I'm not going to be able to get any jobs with him here." I muttered quietly. thinking aloud. "What?" Gray questioned, not hearing me. "I need to get going." I ran back into the bedroom and got dressed as quickly as possible. "Lucy, what about breakfast?" Natsu called after me as I speed walked down the hall tot he elevator. "I don't have time for that. I need to get home." I told him, pressing the button. "Was that your mom? Is she okay?" He asked, standing in front of the door. "No, I just need to do something. I won't be in school today." I told him, walking passed him and into the elevator. "Bye." I quickly pressed the button for ground floor and the close door one, shutting him out.
I ran home, got dressed into warmer clothing, and grabbed my age old guitar. We were going to run out of money next week, having just payed the bills, so if I wanted to get enough money for food and more bills to come, I'll have to start now. I called in sick to school, putting on my best sick voice, and went to the town square, where everyone in this town went at least once a day. I found an empty bench, pulling my thin jacket around me due to the freezing surrounding. Weather reports said it was going to rain today. I set up my guitar case so it was propped open on the bench side and sat down. It was just becoming rush hour for shoppers. I strummed its strings a few times before starting.
There was a lot of people grouping around me as I sang, my eyes closed through the entire time. It wasn't my own song, but it's the only one that came to mind right now. I opened my eyes at the end, finding some people filming me. They all clapped me, making me very surprised a the over whealming amount of people. "Isn't that the girl from that youtube video? The one with the violins!" One woman squealed to her friend. "Yeah, she has such a powerful voice!" Her friend said back. In the back of the crowd, I saw my dad's face, and evil smirk on his face. At this rate, he's going to make me.
