Years have passed from Lucy's disappearance, and no one knows what happened to her. Her mother immediately called the police once she found her gone, the letter her daughter had left in her place. Obviously, they didn't care or help, being paid off by Zeref. All her friends cried when they found out, they still do sometimes. Layla never stopped looking, but she had to return to her daily life, or neither her or her daughter's memory could survive. She and Guildarts got married on the anniversary of Lucy's disappearance. Lizanna was sentenced to a lifetime in jail for what she did but still, believes Zeref will come for her one day.

Natsu fell into deep depression, burying himself in work. Hit songs were made from his emotions. Yet, Lucy never got to hear them. As she thought, she has been locked away from anything social, left to a boarding school in another country Zeref sent her to. She doesn't remember anyone from Magnolia, nor her past, but knows there is an emptiness in her heart. She has new friends now, a promising career. Sometimes, she has nightmares about a boy with pink hair, calling out to her, but she can't hear nor know who he is. His face is blurred and whenever she sees him, she feels like she can't breathe. Her new mother, Mavis Vermillion, is the only one that truly cares about the girl because she knows that her husband, not for love but to bring a company closer, is the devil reincarnated.

Now, it is December, the most lonely time for Lucy Vermillion, but that doesn't stop her from begging her father to let her go outside. "But Daaaddd. It's Christmas! Can't I go shopping!" The now spoiled but generous young lady begged, following her father around the city apartment. Two stories with a great view of the Capital. You can see as far as the mountains surrounding Crocus. "Your mother and I already went shopping for your Christmas presents, can't you just shop online or something." The tired father replied, checking his laptop open on the kitchen, white marble counter. "But I want to play in the snow!" She cried, sitting on the counter beside him. "Off." He ignored her pleads, continuing with his work. "Come on, dear. You could at least let me take her out to buy you a present." Mavis walked in, pouring herself more water into her glass. "I've already got myself a Christmas gift. Spending the holiday with my two favourite girls." Zeref side hugged Lucy before going back to his work. "The two girls that get you the most money, that is." Mavis mumbled before drinking, so quietly no one heard. "I'll take the manpower with me. Pllleeasssee." Lucy cried again, praying to her father to let her go. "Fine! Just let me work!" Zeref lost his temper and exploded, letting the young woman jump for joy. "Thanks, daddy!" She kissed him on the cheek and grabbed her coat from the maid, leaving with two bodyguards behind her. Lucy doesn't remember what Zeref has done to her, otherwise, she would have bitten his head off if they got that close. "You know what you've done, right?" Mavis commented, getting the secret stash of wine she drank every night. Zeref sighed and put his head in his hands. "Sadly. But she's getting old enough for people to wonder why she isn't living alone. The fear story isn't reliable when they see her doing charity work and motorcycling around the city." I sighed, looking at the articles on his daughter through his glasses. "You should never have brought her here. She belongs with her family." Mavis grumbled, pouring her second glass in a few minutes. "She is with her family, right?" Zeref appeared before her, grabbing her chin forcefully and making her drop her glass of wine. The maid watching didn't do a thing, part of her job description was to clean up after her bosses mistakes, or to ignore them completely. "Yes, honey." Mavis spat at the use of 'honey' to the man she despised most. "Good, now go to our room and make yourself pretty. I'll be there in a moment." Zeref slapped his unwilling wife's behind and sent her on her way, going to his laptop and shutting it down. Before he did, though, he spotted the article of Dragon Slayer's latest album. 'Bring her back'.
