I didn't reply to the bastard 'cause I was worried if I opened my mouth, I'd spit fire at him. And you know what they say, never make the designated driver angry 'cause you know, he's in control of your life.
Instead, I just turned to face Heath, and he winced.
I'm guessing the darkness did nothing to hide the rage and fury was evident on my face.
"You couldn't find one better person than that asshole for your Plan B?!"
"Well, I—" Heath opened his mouth to reply but he stopped mid-sentence, his eyes closing for a second as he grabbed his head. If that pig was in pain, he deserved it.
Arsen took Heath's halting as hesitation, filling his place.
God bless the bro code.
"Honey, I think we should keep our bedroom fights till bedroom. Don't bring our kid into it." It was quite clear by the humorous, light tone of his that the asshole was enjoying this. A lot.
I didn't turn to face him 'cause I knew I'd do something like punch the smirk off of his Greek sculpted face and that'd lead to us all being killed. And my own life was the only one I cared about enough to stop myself.
They both could die for all I cared.
I closed my eyes, practicing the method that Travon taught me for self-restraint. It was a great help. Remind me to tell you guys about it, later.
I opened my eyes, turning to Heath.
"He's an agent in training. In TRAINING, you dumb fuck for a boy! That means he CANNOT be on field until a qualified agent with a higher rank gives him the green signal."
If my voice raised a few notches, they both acted like it didn't.
Heath turned his body fully towards me this time, his eyes wild and his finger raised in accusation. The signs of his previous pain long gone.
"Alora! I think you're very much mistaken here and I'd pardon you if you admit you fault here right now!" He shouted and I just looked at him like he'd lost it.
He sighed, explaining.
"I'm not a boy, I'm a man. I'm 20 for God's sake."
And he turned away again like this bullshit of his was more important than the next sentences coming out of his mouth.
"And he has the green light by the permission of a senior member. That's me, by the way. I allowed him to promote after supervising his amazing training." He further explained, giving into the glare on my face. "Truth be told, I didn't see his training even once. I needed a man for backup and he volunteered and I just don't give a shit about his life, really." Heath shrugged like it was no big deal.
"He could die out here tonight, Heath!" I almost screamed.
Honestly, I, myself didn't give one flying fart if he died either, but that death would be on our hands, dragging the name of our agency under the grave with its body and that's something I really don't want.
"Aww. Just absolutely adore it when you show your eternal affection for me, love. But if you're done with your bitchy act, we've got exactly four cars following us. So, chop chop. Get to work." Arsen cooed from the front, butting in and I turned to glare at him through the rearview mirror.
He could die tonight and the carelessness he was showing was just so unexpected.
And I stand corrected, again. He's weird with strangeness topping his personality.
I opened my mouth to retort but was cut off from the shut load of bullets whizzing past us.
The shots fired by the men in the four cars behind us shattered the back glass of our car, right behind our back seat. Its broken glass pieces heading directly in our direction due to our fast speed and wind rushing in the car.
I grabbed Heath's head, dragging him downwards with me, taking cover from the glass heading our way and the non-stop bullets flying around us.
Arsen cursed, stepping on gas with such a force that our jeep jerked before reaching the speed of 110km/h.
He took a sharp right, getting off the muddy road and onto the vacant highway as he raced like a madman, steering the car from left to right after every few seconds that the cars behind us couldn't take a perfect aim this time.
Arsen's driving skills were astounding. And not of a man who was in training.
But I didn't have time to dwell on that. Axel himself was in one of the cars behind us and ditching those cars was the first priority here.
The bullets still whizzed everywhere on the deserted road around us but now, it was a 1 in 100 bullets that hit our car, all courtesy of Arsen's remarkable driving.
One of their cars raced forward, catching up with our SUV.
The enemy car levelled with ours to our left, the man in their passenger seat raising his gun to shoot at Arsen.
But he never gave him a chance.
Arsen steered the car to the left, hitting their jeep, making the driver lose control for a second but then its tires screeched as the driver drove a few meters ahead of us, doing a whole 180, and stopping right in the middle of the fucking road, just waiting for us to hit the middle of its doors if Arsen didn't do anything, fast.
It was a tactic to stop our car, since they couldn't kill us by throwing a grenade (royal treatment, remember) and their plan to kill the driver had failed, miserably.
Arsen didn't even bother to maneuver our car to the side to avoid the car stranded right in the middle of our way.
"Arsen!" I shouted, warning him but it was like he didn't even hear me.
He just smiled a smirk I'd never seen on his face before, his green eyes darkening to forest green as he stepped on gas even more, our range rover heading straight for the jeep in the middle of the road, right ahead of us.
We were just a few meters away now and Arsen still made no effort to avoid the obstacle in our way.
We're soo dying today. And I'm gonna kill this asshole once again.
"Hold on, lovelies. This ride is just getting fun!" Arsen laughed and I closed my eyes, waiting for the impact.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ARSEN?!
WHY IS HE SOO DUMB?!
Anyway, any thoughts on what he's planning on doing?
AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHO THE FUCK DOES HE THINK HE IS THAT HE CAN DRIVE LIKE HE OWNS THE ROADS?!!!
I'm working on Part 2. Let's all join our hands and pray I update quickly.
