Phil spun his pencil around his fingers, watching the clock tick second by second. He smoothed out his hair and made sure his clothing wasn't inside out this time.
This morning he had taken extra time getting ready. He used raspberry scented body wash in the shower and straightened his already-straight-hair to his liking. He picked out his outfit with more care, throwing on his usual black skinny jeans and his favorite blue shirt, which he had been told many times before, brought out his eyes.
Why did he go through all this trouble? Well he just wanted to impress a certain ex-boyfriend and the voices growing louder in his head seemed to approve. Taking Dan's mind off of the hell he was living in was the least he could do and he secretly liked the heart eyes.
Phil was excited, to say the least, he was set on getting Dan out of the asylum and even more set on mending their broken bond. He knew he didn't need an entire week to think on it, his mind was made up, but he would wait if that's what Dan wanted. If anything it gave him more time to plan.
And so he waited and watched the clock's hands on the wall move slower than ever.
The minute hand finally clicked forward and the door to the office clicked open right on time. Dan was pushed into his seat, as usual, and Phil could barely hold back the growing anger that coursed through his veins at the sight of the guards touching Dan and handling him so roughly.
As soon as the guards were gone Phil's pencil snapped in his clenched fist. Dan flinched slightly and gave Phil a worried frown.
"Phil, are you alright?"
Phil snapped out of his predatory state and relaxed his entire body at the sound of Dan's voice.
"Yeah, why?" Phil questioned.
"Your pencil, love." Dan dropped his gaze and nodded towards Phil's hand.
Phil instantly dropped the broken piece in his hand and checked for splinters.
"Sorry. I...I don't know what came over me." Phil apologized.
"I think I know." Dan said with a hint of a smirk.
Phil shook his head, "never mind that, how's your day been?" He hoped Dan would just drop the subject because he really didn't know what had come over him and he wasn't sure if he liked it or feared it.
"It's been good, I haven't had too much confrontation and my breakfast was nice. I thought about you mostly, to be honest; couldn't wait to see you again." Dan gave him the softest smile.
Phil folded his hands together and gently cracked his knuckles.
"You saw me this morning." Phil smiled back.
"I know, but I went years without you and now I finally have you. I want to make up for all those years of torture I put you through and I can't do that when you're not around me 24/7."
Phil's smile turned sympathetic, "oh Dan, you don't have to...you've been through just as much. If anything, I'd say we're even."
