Phil stares in awe as the door pops open.

"Where did you learn how to do that?" He asks.

Dan stands up with two cracks of his knees.

"In high school. I had to learn a few...skillsets to get certain things done." Dan clears his throat, uncomfortably.

*Flashback*

16 year old Dan walked the short ways from his car to the abandoned barn. He had already scouted this place out a few times before and concluded that no one had inhabited the area for years, possibly decades.

He stood at the door and examined the padlock binding it.

"Looks just like the one in the book." He smiled to himself. He pulled out the borrowed library book detailing how to lock-pick and got to work with his mother's hair pins as his tools of choice.

His first attempt ended in a snapped pin and a muttered "fucking hell." His second attempt was too rushed and he clumsily dropped the pin in the grass, where he lost sight of it entirely. His third attempt was slow as he silently listened for the desired clicks, he moved the pins to catch on the desired ends of the lock.

"There you go. Motherfucker." He smirked as the lock clicked and finally fell to the ground.

He pushed the door open and clicked on his small torch.

The barn was dark and dusty with scattered bundles of what dan assumed was hay. He coughed and covered his nose and mouth with his shirt collar. It was almost creepy how silent and cold the environment was.

Dan ran his light over the walls, examining every inch of the place. A table, left unused and rusty, sat, stoically, in the middle of the building. Some shelves for tools and workspace lined the wall next to the entrance. A few rusty tools, including a hammer, were already left hanging on the wall.

Dan gently ran his finger over the table and sighed, inwardly.

"Ah yes. You'll do."

*end flashback*

Dan looks over the desk while Phil volunteers to look through the filing cabinets. As Phil is flipping through papers, Dan unlocks the top drawer of the desk with ease. He immediately sees a file labeled "confidential" and opens it to find a picture of the asylum. He continues the read through the detailed contracts and secret papers within the file.

"Dan." Phil says, still working on the cabinets.

"Hmm?" Dan hums as he rakes in the information that pretty much proves of Bethany's involvement with the asylum and sketchy business practices with its patients and employees.

"You have a file in here."

"What? Why? What does it say?" Dan sets the incriminating files on the table and walks to Phil, peering over his shoulder at the open file. Sure enough, the first page includes his basic bio and a black and white photograph of him from his teens.

Dan flips to the next page of the file which specifies his crimes and mental health notes.  He turns the page again to a detailed account of medications that they had been testing on him along with their adverse side effects.

Phil's eyes widen at the 5 pages worth of medicines.

"Dan, I had no idea they tested so many."

Dan shrugs. "I was trapped in there long enough...We can use this. Take a few files."

"Use this? Aren't we killing them and leaving it be?"

"In case something unplanned happens we'll have blackmail." Dan informs.

"Right." Phil hesitates before going to grab a few more files.

"Phil, if something does happen, you know I will protect you. No matter what." Dan looks dead serious.

Phil swallows back a remonstrance and nods. Dan sees the argument in his eyes and softly pokes his cheek.

"I mean it."

"I know. Doesn't mean I have to like it." Phil pouts.

"Hey now, no more pouts." Dan taps on his bottom lip.

"Did I tell you how hot you look in work clothes?" Phil perks up.

Dan rolls his eyes and turns back to the desk of incriminating paperwork.

Phil's vision blurs for a moment and he blinks to get rid of the haze, but when his eyes open again, he's standing in front of Dan. His thumbs are circling his hips as he pins him to the desk. Dan's eyes are wide with confusion and glazed over with something else. His lips are reddened, matching his blush.

Phil finally gathers himself and steps back until his back hits the filing cabinet.

"I-I'm sorry. I don't know what happened. I blinked. I just blinked and then I was there. I-I-"

"It's fine Phil. I'm okay." Dan closes the gap between them and holds Phil against his chest. He rubs calming circles into his back. Phil's shoulders fall as he relaxed in his boyfriend's arms.

"I just blinked." Phil says once more in an exhausted whisper.

"I know baby. I know." Dan says. Keeping Phil balanced. He makes sure his tone is calm and steady for Phil, but his face, which Phil doesn't see, betrays his calm façade.
