Phil woke up to the sounds of his alarm going off. Dan stirred in his arms and Phil looked down at him, confused. He must have cuddled closer to him in his sleep.

"Mmm too early." Dan groaned.

Phil reached over and stopped his alarm.

"Go back to sleep, Dan. I've got to go." Phil said softly.

"Will I see you later?" Dan asked, peeking one eye open.

Phil gave him a small smile as he picked up his clothes.

"Yeah."

Dan smiled back and buried his head back into the pillow.

Phil walked quickly to the bathroom and dressed in his clothes from the previous evening. He quietly tiptoed out, closing the door softly behind him. He crept down the hall, but it seemed to be empty still. As he reached the stairway to return to the first floor he passed a guard who yawned and nodded to him. He nervously nodded back and jogged down the stairs and to his room.

Once he was safely in his room, Phil checked the window and saw that it was still pretty dark outside so he decided to take a nap. He passed out as soon as his body hit the bed into a dreamless sleep.

Phil woke up a few hours later and checked his phone, he was about an hour late for their session. He had missed it. He buried his face in his pillow and groaned loudly, before tossing it aside and jumping in the shower. He took his time getting ready and left the room to find Ms. Jen already at the door. Her arms were crossed and her foot was tapping on the floor.

"Sleep in?" She asked. Phil swallowed and nodded his head nervously.

"Don't let it happen again." She ordered.

"Right, I-I promise." Phil said.

"Daniel just had lunch and was given his medications, but we are having more of a difficulty with him today than usual."

Phil scrunched his face in confusion, he had just seen him this morning and he seemed fine.

"What has he been doing that's causing difficulties?" Phil asked.

"Let's just say he has a filthy mouth and the staff here does not tolerate that. He actually resisted the guards when they tried to take him out of the session room, some nerve he has. Maybe it's a good thing you didn't show up." Ms. Jen explained. She looked down and checked her watch.

"I have some patients to attend to, be on time tomorrow or we'll find a new intern that can do their job properly. Understood?"

Phil's eyes widened and he quickly nodded yes.

Without another word Ms. Jen turned and walked away.

Now's your chance. While she isn't looking. You can get rid of her right now.

Phil threw his hands over his ears.

DO IT. DO IT NOW. The voices screamed.

Phil gasped, they had never screamed at him before. They were usually just a whisper.

Phil turned on his heel and quickly locked himself in his room.

The next day Phil arrived at the session room a few minutes early. The guards came in shortly after, pushing Dan inside. Dan was wiggling around in his straitjacket, trying to get out of their grips. He was too weak, however, and they threw him down in his chair. Dan stared daggers at the door as they left. Phil could practically feel the anger seeping off of him.
