A/n the tense is a bit different in this chap, but I think you all will get it. I think I'll write the future chapters in this tense as well with flashbacks in past tense and everything else in present. And thanks for reading this far, I know I promised to have it done in one go, but I think I was dragging it out too long and you guys wanted an update~

"Dan what are you doing?" Phil giggled, eyes crinkled with pure joy.
"Isn't it obvious?" Dan had pulled the white sheet over their heads. The morning sunlight seeped through the sheer fabric, illuminating their makeshift cocoon. Trapped with the giggling boy he loved under the sheets in their own little space; Dan had never felt happier.
"Trying to hide from the sun so you can sleep in longer?" Phil guessed.
Dan shook his head, unable to wipe the stupid smile from his face.
"I'm trying to make you happy."
He had blue eyes, a raspy morning voice, and an unforgettable smile, all to himself. There was no where else he wanted to be, he could live the rest of his life in this one moment.
Phil's thumb traced the curve of his hip and pulled him closer and closer.
"Well congrats. I'm happy." Phil beamed.
Dan leaned in the few centimeters that separated them, placing a lazy, but meaningful kiss on his boyfriend's chapped lips.
"Stay here with me...forever." Dan spoke so softly he didn't think Phil had even heard him.
"Hmm tempting..." Phil hummed. "But we have school today and I have a maths test to attempt and fail. Cat helped me study and she would kill me if I don't show up."
Dan groaned, remembering he had a test as well.
"When will the universe just let me keep you here, with me, forever?"
Phil had laughed and kissed Dan once more before lifting the sheets and stumbling out of bed. Dan watched him make his way out the door and down the hallway; listened to the drum of the shower start. Phil had no idea that Dan was 100% serious. He wanted to keep Phil with him, safe and secure, in his bed, in his arms, under that sheet, in the early morning, forever.
"Please forgive me...after...just stay." Dan had whispered to the empty room and lingering scent of Phil on his bedsheets.
---
Dan feels Phil's index finger drawing a figure eight along his open palm. The sensation pulling him out of his memories and back into the present.
"What are you thinking so hard about?" Phil asks, softly, although the only other train passenger is drunk and passed out (possibly dead).
Dan looks at the boy from his memories, now older and much more damaged. Dark circles under his eyes and a wrinkle on his brow make him look so tired and so... destroyed. Dan can't help himself as he cups his love's face between his hands and kisses the wrinkle until it smooths out. He moves on to kiss every bit of skin he can on Phil's face. He feels Phil melt under his touch, becoming more and more relaxed with each brush of his lips.
When Phil finally seems well enough relaxed Dan kisses his lips, like a grand finale. A finale which Phil follows with an encore, kissing him back just as he did under Dan's sheets so many years ago. Kissing him like they're the only two people in the universe.
Phil doesn't wait for an answer, in fact he completely forgets he asked Dan anything at all.
The rest of the train ride is spent with Phil's head resting on Dan's side, finally getting some much needed sleep.
