On their way to where Caroline was, each of them realized that this could go two ways. Either save Caroline and the day, or someone was bound to get killed. But truthfully, Klaus could not care less. He was willing to even sacrifice himself, if that meant that Caroline would be safe and sound.
Klaus' hold on the stirring wheel has become more tight as they were getting closer and closer to Caroline's location. He must have passed the speed limit long ago, but he had a good purpose for everything he was doing. When after some minutes, they reached the bayou, where Caroline's abductor must have taken her, Klaus and Stefan instantly rushed to the door, leaving Katherine a little far behind. But they came to realize that they weren't alone, when two huge and rather muscular guys blocked the entrance. Almost immediately, Klaus stormed in front of them and tried to throw them aside, when he grasped that they were more powerful that he originally thought. As soon as Stefan saw that his old friend was struggling, he rushed to him and helped fight the 'bad guys'. Never in a million years would Stefan have thought that Klaus would be with the good ones and not the villain, as it was expected of him.
While they were fighting, Katherine managed to reach the door without running into anyone else and she grasped her only chance to save Caroline, while Stefan and Klaus were kept busy fighting the enemy. She started running and screaming Caroline's name. Probably not a good thing, considering that a mad man was out to murder her in cold blood. After a while, she stumbled upon a metal cage door, which resembled prison's bars. In it, she found Caroline, who was hurt and weak, her clothes covered with blood stains and her body filled with burnt skin and injuries.
Katherine quickly walked to Caroline, passing the bars and tried to free Caroline. Caroline looked exhausted and ready to pass out, when she turned to look at the doppelganger.
"I-It's a... trap." Caroline managed to stutter, almost out of breath. Katherine barely caught it, but it was too late. Isaac appeared, out of nowhere, scaring Katherine and making her back up a few steps. His eyes had a killer's glow in them, while he was also struck with the resemblance she had to his Elena.
"Whoever you are, you are not going to hurt blondie. No more."
"Blondie was never my target. You were." Isaac admitted, before pushing her against the wall so hard, she could swear her back had broken. In an instant, his fangs came out and he started drinking her blood. It was getting harder and harder to resist and fight back, as the loss of the blood made her weaker and weaker. She was starting to think she would soon fade into blackness, when suddenly Klaus and Stefan stormed in the room and kicked Isaac off of Katherine. Stefan fought him like a mad man, feeling the adrenaline kick in, as well as the ripper's sensation. Isaac was barely breathing at this point, when Stefan gave him the deathblow.
"No one hurts the woman I love." Stefan growled with fury and Katherine, no matter how hurt she was, stormed at him and hugged him, holding on for dear life, while Klaus has picked up Caroline and had started walking outside. After some minutes, Stefan and Katherine followed as well, ready to return to the hotel.
The ride back was peaceful and quiet. Everyone was relieved that finally no one was at any danger. Katherine was snuggling with Stefan at the back seat, while Caroline has drifted off to sleep in the co-driver's seat. Klaus was glancing at her often, checking that she was safe. In fact, he insisted she sat on the front just to ensure that no harm would come to her.
By the time Caroline has started stirring up in her sleep, they were already at the hotel. Katherine and Stefan have gone to their rooms, while Klaus has been waiting for Caroline to wake up. When her eyes started to flicker, sign she was awake, Klaus was by her side in an instant. Her eyes looked at him and she was confused as to why he was starring at her, as if he had seen a ghost. Then, everything came rushing back and in a flash she saw everything that happened to her in those two days she's been missing. The pain and the agony, thinking she has seen the last of her days. She knew she was miserable while that Isaac tortured her, but she was just now realizing she wasn't the only one. When she looked into his eyes, she could see the burden that he carried, but she wasn't sure for the reason behind it.
They just stayed in quiet for a while, but it was getting kind of uneasy and tense, at least for Caroline.
"I guess I have to say thank you."
"No, you don't." Klaus answered back with such authority, it was almost scary.
"What do you mean? You literally saved my life. Of course, I have to say thank you."
"No, Caroline. What I did was never for your own good. It was for me. I haven't changed. I was simply egoistic like I have always been."
"How could you possibly think that?"
"Because I could not live with myself, if something ever happened to you. If I knew that I could do something to save you and instead I remained idle waiting for some sort of God earthly miracle to happen. So, there you have it, Caroline. None of what I did was for you. It was all for me, so I could go on living I did everything in my power to help you. And I did, so that's all. End of discussion."
"Look, Klaus. I feel like owe you a thank you and I am going to give you as much, because you didn't have to come and rescue me and yet you did. So, thank you for everything you did to help me."
"Caroline, if you really believe that. If you really think that there was even a possibility I would stay at home, while you were in danger, you're either naive or pretentious." He said and stormed out of her room, consumed with emotions he didn't know he had in him. Feelings he thought long gone by now.
Caroline was quite stunned at the words Klaus has spoke out. All this time, she thought that she was just a challenge for him, but after their dispute, she couldn't help but think that there was something more under his usual by now infatuation towards her.

In the way to Katherine's hotel room, Stefan has been quiet, as has she. However, it was not an awkward silence that made you feel uncomfortable, rather a tense one that got you thinking something would eventually happen. The moment Katherine opened the door to her room, Stefan crept up behind her, closed the door shut and pushed Katherine to the wall.
"Stefan?" Katherine's voice was unusually vulnerable. Her eyes were getting lost in his, while his fingers lightly stroke her cheeks, making her eyes close, as she was trying to imprint this so rare moment between them in her memory.
"Why, Katherine? Don't you like it?"
"It's not that. I-It's just... that... It's not like you to want to be close to me."
"Maybe I have reevaluated our relationship."
"What relationship? You barely talk to me."
"I'd really like, if that changed between us."
"Stefan, you're acting off." Katherine marked taking his hand off of her face, letting it fall.
"Oh, God, Katherine. You're so difficult." Stefan sighed exasperated, as he stopped talking and rather started doing. His hands grabbed Katherine's admirable body and he attacked her lips, like a lost man in the desert searches for an oasis to quench his thirst. Although, surprised, Katherine shortly caught on his need for her, quickly starting to get her fair share of him. Her tongue interwined with his in a dominant dance, with only objective to see who wins. However, in this war, there were no winners, as both of them had equally managed to feel deprived of one another after all this time, after all these years, that they stayed away from each other. At last, they broke their long lasting kiss, when they were both incapable of breathing anymore. Their breaths were still unsteady, yet their eyes still shared the same passion for one another, which could not be held back anymore. Soon, they were once again lusting after one another, trying to get satisfy their own needs, while pleasure was what the one demanded from one another.
