The next morning, Caroline was healed from all the wounds that she got from the vervain and Isaac's tortures. Even though, she was still exhausted, she couldn't wait to talk to Stefan and Katherine, who has sort of become her friend. It was weird, but Katherine was actually fun, when she wasn't murdering or manipulating people.
Once she got dressed, she took the elevator and got the second floor, where Katherine and Stefan's rooms were. However, she decided to pay a visit first at Katherine's, just because she was genuinely for her. Isaac was after her and she thought that Katherine might feel threatened and afraid. When she knocked on her door, she waited for a couple of minutes, but there was no answer. She nonchalantly chose to go and talk to Stefan, but to her surprise he was also absent. Worried that something might have happened to Katherine, she went to the receptionist, who gave her a spare key for Katherine's room. Not wasting any time, Caroline urged to barge in her room, only to find out that both of her friends were safe and sound And together. Like together-together. Their bodies were obviously naked, yet thankfully hidden under the satin sheets, and their arms and legs wrapped around each other.
Caroline was obviously happy for them, so she exited the room, as silently as she had entered it, leaving them in their bubble of happiness just a tad longer. Not having anything else to do, she decided to do a little tour around the city, just getting to know New Orleans. She changed her clothes and then she wandered around the streets, exploring New Orleans bit by bit. She felt good in her own company, until she recognized a familiar face in the distant crowd. The one and only original bitch, Rebekah Mikaelson. She tried to avoid her by turning the other way, but by the minute she thought of turning around, Rebekah had already caught up with her.
"Well, well. Would you look at that? Caroline Forbes is in my home town looking almighty and fearless."
                              "Oh, Rebekah. You're here."
"Of course, I'm here. The question is why are you?"
"I guess your brother hasn't informed you."
"Oh no, he has. But I just thought after you were tortured and all that jazz, you'd be running scared back to your hometown in a second."
"You should know better. I wasn't afraid, when your family terrorized everyone I knew and loved in my hometown. What makes you think I am any more fazed now?"
"You're right, you endure. Like all cockroaches."
                              "You should know."
"You know I'm loving our little encounter, but I should really get going."
"That's what everyone does, when they have nothing to say."
"Actually, Caroline. I'm just late. I was supposed to meet my brother. Not Elijah. The other one. Niklaus, who apparently is not on speaking terms with you. I wonder why. You are such a lovable person." Rebekah's voice was tainted with irony, while Caroline couldn't help but feel uneasy at the sound of his name.
"Actually I am and I have people to meet and things to do, so, bye. " Caroline waved her off and left before Rebekah had the chance to say something diminishing back to her. That's for sure.
Rebekah, on the other hand, looked at Caroline as she left, thinking about what might have happened between her and her brother. When she talked to Niklaus this morning, he was a bit distant, which he always is, but what was off about him was when she asked him about Caroline. Instead of saying that she's okay or whatever, he threw one of his infamous dagger threats and returned to his painting room, where he usually went, when he was upset and was trying not to commit multiple murders at once.
Klaus has been in that room for the past three hours and his frustration for Caroline has not been dimmed, not in the slightest. If anything, it has somehow transformed into rage and chaos was dominating him at the moment, having no absolute control over it.
The painting on the board in front of him consisted of colorful shades, mainly resembling to red, in a way to capture what he was feeling at the moment. Lost in his work and art as he was, he did not manage to watch the silouette that walked slowly, yet quietly behind him, now standing only a few inches away from him. Only when she touched his back, were he able to recognize her, as his nostrils were quickly filled with that vanilla scent that always followed her presence.
As he turned around rapidly to watch her filled with guilt face, Caroline's fingers immediately touched his face gently, stroking his cheeks and holding him in place to watch him with care. Of course, as she already knew, there was nothing that could hold Klaus in tact, if he did not desire that himself. His reaction was unexpected, even for her. Even for him. He cornered her in a wall and imprisoned her tiny hands in one of his, while the other punched against the wall.
"What are you doing here?" Klaus roared as a true king would.
Without even as much as flinching, Caroline answered him honestly. "I came to make amends with you. I know I hurt you and I feel terribly sorry for the pain I caused you. I know you must be disappointed at me and will never want to see me again, but I had to make sure you knew-" Caroline started apologizing, when at some point, he interrupted her.
"Shut up!" Klaus growled and almost screamed so loud, you could hear him from miles away. Supernatural or otherwise.
"What? Why?" She asked with hurt and sorrow in her voice.
"You just need to stop talking." He ordered her with such intensity, that no one would dare second him. But he should know better than to demand anything of Caroline Forbes, that she was not prepared to give.
"What, if I don't? Klaus, you can't seriously be so close-minded, as to think I will remain silent, while you scream and shout or God knows wh-" Klaus could not stand the sound of her voice anymore, since she always clouded his judgement, for better or for worse. So, he shut her up, the only way he knew. He forced himself on her with a fiery kiss, filled with all the passion, love, fury and rage he felt for her. He felt all that and much more. But what surprised him was not his contradicting feelings, but the way she reacted to his kiss. Instead of telling him to shove it, per usual, she accepted him with as much passion, if not more, that almost made him pull away. Almost.
And as he was starting to imagine all the unhonorable things he would do to her, like Elijah would say, something started to annoy him. A person. It sure as hell wasn't Caroline, who was wrapped in his arms, holding on for dear life. So, who could it be that was taking this once at a lifetime moments ? The voice got loudder and loudder, until Caroline started to fade away like fog and his embrace was no longer filled with her. Instead, he was faced with his sister, Rebekah, who was now in the midst of shouting due to Klaus' ineffectiveness to connect with the real world.
So, it was all a dream, he thought, as he acknowledged his sister's presence with a heavy and depressed sigh.
"Okay, don't be so happy to see me. I just wanted tp let you know, I run into your crush from Mystic Falls in all her glory." She pronounced with hatred and got lost in her bitter thoughts about Caroline, while Klaus was busy also thinking about her, but for completely different reasons.
"S0o, what?" He tried to play it cool, but Rebekah was having none of it.
"So, you wouldn't care if I told you, she was kissing Stefan in the middle of the road?"
"What???" Klaus shouted so loud this time he could be heard all the way back to Mystic Falls.
"Right, you do not care at all." Having said that Rebekah left the room, however Klaus was still under the impression that what she told him about Caroline were true. His previous rage has rapidly turned into thoughts of homicide about one person in particular. Stefan Salvatore.
