Late into the night, dreams haunted Caroline's sleep and made her restless. She struggled to feel comfortable on her handmade bed, but to no avail. It was pointless. This would never pass for any sort of sleep mattress. She was really stupid to think that she would be fine sleeping on the floor. As much as she hated to admit it, Klaus proved to be right on this occasion. Caroline Forbes was not born to live as anything less than a queen. Obviously, she would never admit that to him, but Klaus clearly knew her better than she knew herself.
Not paying her thoughts much consideration, she moved away from her uncomfortable bedding and rose to her feet, tiptoeing to the bed, where Klaus seemed to be peaceful into his slumber. She picked up the blanket Klaus was covered with and slowly, yet as quietly as humanly possible started making her way next to him, trying not to wake him up. When she was finally all tucked in, she eased into the warmness of the satin covers and smelling the scent of Klaus, she was already half asleep. Her awake state was unfortunately restored, when by accident she shifted her body to be more comfortable. Yet in doing that, she bumped on his shoulder and by accident ended up alerting him, which was the exact opposite of what she wanted at the time.
He started waking up from his deep sleep and sat up, seeing that Caroline was indeed the one that woke him up.
"Caroline? Is something wrong?" He asked her feeling perplexed about her presence on the bed, since they had already agreed that they would sleep seperately.
"Sorry for waking you up, but I can't sleep on the floor. Is it okay if we both sleep on the bed? I promise I won't-" She started excusing herself, before she was cut off mid-sentence.
"Of course, you can, love. I wouldn't want you to feel uncomfortable in any way." She starred into his eyes and for a moment she swore they were heart-shaped. Wow, she was really starting to lose her mind.
"Thanks, Klaus." She thanked him, shaking her head to think clearly.
"Goodnight, Caroline." He said and closed his eyes, as he felt her scent invade his nostrils.
The flickering sound of the lamp button turning on was heard across the silent room.
"Hey, Klaus. Do you think coming here was a mistake?"
"No. Why? Have you regretted it?" He  wondered, hoping she hadn't. Thankfully, his prayers were answered, just this once.
"No, it's not that. I just have a bad feeling. Like we're missing something."
"Well, no need to worry, love. First thing tomorrow, we'll have our answers. Besides, you'll have your own Original to look after you. You think I'll suffice?"
"You'll do." She answered with a hint of humor.
"Glad I could be of service, your Majesty."
"Oh, Klaus, I'm really happy, our paths crossed again." She uttered out of the blue and to say he was dumbfounded would be an understatement.
"Is that so?" Klaus asked genuinely surprised at her sudden display of feels towards him.
"Are you kidding me? If I hadn't run into you, who knows where I would have ended up. Maybe even the Otherside." Caroline was only half joking. However, Klaus didn't take her comment lightly.
"I would never let such thing happen. You know that, right?" His face shifted and was instantly filled with worry and seriousness.
                              "I do now."
"Was there ever a doubt?" His words seemed to hold a certain degree of surprise once again.
"Well, gee, Klaus, I don't know. You're a hard person to read, when it comes to the people you don't want to kill, let alone like."
