“So, you’ll be coming to our engagement party, right?”

When Marcel blurts out these words, Caroline’s face turns to white. Not a very good sign for her mental state, taking into consideration that she’s a vampire and can’t be sick. The look her eyes hold is filled with confusion, exasperation and anger all at once. How could he infiltrate in her life like that? Caroline thought of Marcel, as she caught a glance of Klaus’ face.

He seemed profoundly shocked and honestly she couldn’t blame him. Caroline herself was still trying to process how she is going to cover up Marcel’s very creative lie.

“Marcel, that can’t be true. I assure you, I would be aware." He says always checking Caroline’s reaction, wating for her next words.

Even though, Caroline still feels every type of way about Marcel, she doesn't hold back when she speaks to Klaus with such irritation, Klaus had the only privilege of creating.

“And how would you possibly know that?"

"Well, you'd tell me." Klaus’ responds with not that big of a confidence, as he contemplates what Caroline’s face is giving away. Not much yet. He still hasn’t managed to decipher whether everything that was happening at the moment was a big, fat lie or just the most painful truth he has ever had to come across in his one thousand years (and more) of life.

"That's absurd. Why should I come to you for something that important and sacred to me?" Caroline says with such belief and enragement that Klaus doubts now what he once thought was a lie

"Okay. Then, I'd be glad to be present during such an important time in your life." Klaus says making big efforts to keep a straight, neutral face without exploding in shouts and serial killer mode.

"We'd be honored. It just so happens to take place tonight." Marcel urges to answer first, before Caroline has either the chance of tearing Klaus’ head off of his neck or begin shouting at his ironic tone. Now, she 'just so happens' to want to do that on Marcel as well. He is on her hitlist tonight.

"Rebekah!! Get down here!!" Klaus yelled the minute he passed the treshold of his estate.

"Oh, Nik. What's with all the shouting?" Rebekah asked, as she was walking down the staircase.

"Don't act like you don't know what I am going on about." Rebekah starred at him for a good second and then she decided there was no point in pretending.

"I guess you found out Stefan didn't actually kiss Caroline." She says in a casual tone. He is not convinced.

"Did you honestly think you will be excused this easily?"

"Honestly... I didn't care." Rebekah said sitting on the couch and fliping through a fashion magazine.

"Sister, don't tempt me to put a dagger through you.”

"You know, your dagger threats are really getting annoying. And boring."

"You know what was not boring today? Talking to Marcel." Klaus changed the subject in the more pressing issue of the day.

"Oh, you did, huh?" Rebekah said trying to sound uninterested.

"Are you interested in knowing who was accompanying him?"

"Whatever." She told him, as if she wasn't fighting the urge to beg him to confess what he knew.

"Caroline. What a coincidence, right? Except it wasn’t."

“What do you mean?” Rebekah closed the magazine shut, tossed it at the edge of the sofa and turned her undivided attention to her brother.

“Oh, just that they had an announcement to make. Quite an important one.”
