We all have truths to seek within us, but our truths either render enlightening, or utterly despair inducing. Only Time tells when Fate decides to place the truth plainly in your wake.

It all happened so fast it nearly made my head spin. What happened didn't exactly matter to me at that moment, but the small amount of time it took paralyzed me to submission. I was scared, and it usually took a lot to scare me...
The crescent moon hung above the grass where I stood there, breathless.
The air was so still,
so silent,
so... dead...
Everything in front of me just screamed crazy. So... why was I still here?
The repulsive smell of blood and rotting bodies waved around the dreaded home before me, making me want to vomit amidst the ground.
The others are probably going to come get me soon, I need to get out of here, while I can.
I was about to bolt until I heard something.
"You..." A deadly voice muttered behind me, "You murdered them!" They shrieked.
Well this is fucking perfect... A human...
I scoffed. "Really think so? Try again." I said, trying to look for the threatened person.
"Yeah you did you son of a-!"
I felt a slight stinging pain on my left shoulder. I looked towards it to find a human girl trying to kill me, looking dreadful with sickly white hair, and the saddest eyes.
As if that works on my kind...
She started shouting in agitation, trying to dig her knife in deeper. I casually grabbed her knife and threw it out of her reach. She tried to run to get it back, but I stopped her by grabbing her hand, and pulling her towards my chest.
My soul-sensory was wavering within me. My eyes fell shut as my magic connected me to her emotional energy.
She felt so much sadness, so much guilt, resentment, hatred. All of her emotions were shifted towards me, giving me a bitter taste of everything she just went through.
My head pounded in fatigue as I struggled not to lose focus or balance in the mental struggle.
I let go of our embrace, and effortlessly carried her unconscious body, staring down at the sad, yet, beautiful human I happened to stumble across...
What I saw in that house was a sanctuary of corpses; this poor girl was lucky enough to survive...
But is it really luck that she is alive? After all, since she is, she must live life, bearing the burden of her dead family.
...The others will have to help me on this one. But I know for certain... This girl will not meet her family's fate, not as long as I'm here to prevent it.
I laid her body on a comfortable patch of grass, making sure no one may see me in the moonlight.
"Whoever you are, little girl, I won't let you die on me." I muttered to myself. A part of me wished for her to hear it.
I took a glance at my Rolex watch. It read 11:46 P.M.
Damn...
I can't afford to be here any longer; I hear human law enforcement on their way to this location.
And they're in for one hell of a case.

They serve their duties eternally by delivering human souls to their rightful afterlife, as well as
silently protecting humans from hostile supernatural creatures not meant to be in the physical world that they innocently inhabit.
All human deaths are verified by the Reapers. So if such an altercation were to occur, they would surely know.
