XVI: Envy Rises

~Sendex's P.O.V~

Jaide was still in there with Letonin. I don't know what's taking so damn long. My fight with Crepsus stayed consistent, but I doubt my stamina will last too long against him. His Discipuli are fighting with Letonin's, but they know well enough not to interfere with our fight.

When Letonin was shot, Jaide threw me a bullet used on him. As far as mana goes, there was nothing inside. But there was a text engraved in it that was clearly latin. Meaning it could've been written by either reaper or demon kind gifted in the art of curses. The text said: "May toxins of love and corrosion befall upon the adored ones."

Not that it mattered. My focus was now on Crepsus.

He panted heavily. "It's taking a while for you to die, and I want to wrap this up a bit faster. I didn't really want to use her, but its time to wreak havoc on you bastards."

He swung his rake and aimed it toward the moon above him.

"Messes Luna."

"Are you kidding?!" I yell.

Messes Luna. It's a move that takes in the light of the moon in exchange for magical power. But in return, turns the moon into a blood red, causing demons to be more invigorated. Its an unnatural phenomenon in his fingertips.

He rose from the surface, and gave me a smug look.

"Better used on you than anyone else, you're a pest that won't go away."

I didn't quite understand what he meant by her. But I know that move increases his mana to an insane amount, taking the light of the moon itself and converting it to energy.

He spread his wings, which allowed me to see how distorted they are. One of his wings were fine, the other was red, and looked slightly... rotten? I'm not sure what this means. He had a sickly gaze that told me to stay the hell back. An aura surrounded him, and his mark shined upon the sky.

The moon above turned a bright red, and fireflies began to emerge in the air.

What... the hell is he doing?

"You think that after all this time, I'm going to let this go?! You Reapers of Order should have left this alone while you could have! Now, I summon you here, Divine Sin, Envy!"

Envy... the Demoness I was tasked to kill, alongside Letonin and Mandie... Such a long time ago. Mandie was a very powerful Discipuli, she demonstrated power that could easily match the Reapers of Order. But asides from power, she was also blessed with beauty.

Her smile made me forget about all of what was wrong in the world. She made me feel as if I was worth something.

In that fight with Envy, it was me that should have died, but no. Life has a funny way of taking the ones you care about most. Just as she had a funny way of showing her affection. After she died mercilessly by the fangs of that monster, I never had the strength to love again. Just the strength to kill, and do my job.

I bet it was for this reason Crepsus decided to Brand me. It was at my most vulnerable state, and my mind wanted nothing more than to simply shut down.
